I mean, I may win one of these monthly contests eventually, right?

Nice write-up on Merkinball, I'm wondering if they'll re-release anything special considering that it's 30 yrs this year.0

I skip entering months that I don’t really want the prize because I’m sure those would be the only time I’d win! So of course, I ain’t winning this month

you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane0 -

That's what I thought earlier this year or maybe last year in anticipation of this year. But there was nothing for RSD. Maybe we'll get a visualized video on YouTube?MS149515 said:Nice write-up on Merkinball, I'm wondering if they'll re-release anything special considering that it's 30 yrs this year.I miss igotid880 -

Santos is a glutton for punishment, seemed like they were working non-stop to get those bags filled and shipped.Shaindli1 said:I thought we cleaned out the warehouse last year with the mystery bags.
Maybe not.
If that's what it is, I'll take two but this time in the correct size!
Santos is a crafty and cheeky one.
If I didn't know any better, I'd say there was a time circa 2002-2005 when you could email them and...if they didn't have it in the shop, perhaps they could look deep. I remember a newsletter when they had "1993-2000 and 2002 annual singles" or some such and they were FREE with $2 shipping per single.
I waited a few days and they were out of the one. I ended up getting 1995-2000 that way. Either they didn't have 2001 or that's the one I lost out on, but I got that one later.
This was probably 2004 or 2005 when I made that order.
The first one I got with a membership was the 2003 (Reach Down) that came in April/May of 2004.
Santos must have a HELL of a database saying exactly what they have, the sizes, quantities, etc. I've seen two of the WSYP 1998 stickers go out...they probably have 50-100 more.
If they were 2000 Benaroya Hall records made... between the original sale, the pop-up shop, copies sent to family/friends of the band, mystery sales ... There's gotta be a few left in the warehouse. There's no way that anywhere near 2000 went out during the original sale.
They never seem to run out of them, but they do seem to be fewer in number. I'm also guessing there's more than 2000. When having a limited edition item manufactured, it's not unheard of to run a surplus just in case (in case of damaged goods, etc..).
Truth.
These bonus sales could be the surplus.
2000 sold plus 550 surplus. I believe it was Ray Cameron (Matt's son) who sold a very low number from the Benny a few years ago. It was something like 8/2000 that ended up in Craig's list and the buyer couldn't believe it. There were MANY emails back and forth to ascertain it was a legit sale on a really good price. (Ray said it wasn't about the money.)Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -

They do the mystery bags every year or two, and they always have more stuff. Just keeping enough Benny's around to put 1 in each round of mystery boxes is probably enough to get a lot of people to buy them.Shaindli1 said:I thought we cleaned out the warehouse last year with the mystery bags.

Also, seems like some items they were trying to get rid of 7 or 8 years ago when I did my first box are probably sought after by now. Shirts and jackets that sit in the shop for a while and don't sell, get people excited a few years later when they are no longe available.
There's a joke there about a Ridin with Biden shirt popping up in a 2029 box.Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -

It was discogs, not that it really matters. And was signed by the whole band. I believe it was even lower than #8.Lost In Ohio said:Zod said:Lost In Ohio said:njhaley1 said:

The buyer shared the whole story on a thread here (if not here, then FB, but pretty sure here.)
I don’t recall him ever saying it wasn’t about the money, I think the assumption was he didn’t know what it was worth. I think the price was still $1200, so not like he gave it away, but it was an amazing deal considering unsigned fetch $2000 or more.0 -

Yeah, it's all coming back now. If it was about the money, then I would have hoped Ray would have asked for more or asked dad for some help.Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -
Who knows. But I know one day I will be cleaning out some of my dad's collectibles and not know what a lot of it is worth, and probably get some bad research involved and ask too little for something.Lost In Ohio said:mace1229 said:
