    this is a great thread to get my feet wet

    any given day i may answer different,..and the ones i just read..YES i agree!

    Well what can i say, there's just so many awesome lyrics by Vedder
    One that has been in my mind for a while is 'the direction of the eye, so misleading, the defection of the soul, nauceously quick'
    Sorry 'bout the spelling
    Other lines on the top of my head:
    'I wish I was the radio song, the one that you turned up'
    'Hearts and thoughts they fade, fade away'
    'Caught a bolt of lightning, cursed the day he let it go' love that one

    Ahhh but there's so many
    I also think it's interesting how lyrics can affect you in different ways
    The ones that hit home can differ from the way Eddie sings them, or the words themselves, if you get my meaning
    Like the choruses for Dissident are sung so well it doesn't really matter what the lyrics are, whereas some lyrics are easier to relate to even if there's not as much emphasis put into them - 'Jesus greets me, looks just like me...'
    I guess it all depends on the context of the song and how Ed wants to get his message across, whether it's through amazing singing or through inspired lyrics

    stunned by my own relfections lookin back sees me too clearly and i swore i'd never go there again - i just like how that part is sung...

    There are a couple of lyrics that are always on my mind:

    "I know I was born and I know that I'll die / The in between is mine"

    "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life / I know you'll be a star, in somebody else's sky / But why can't it be mine"

    "And he still gives his love / He just gives it away..."

    Pearl Jam's songs are full of poetry, are filled w/ philosophical questions... and that's probably why I love them.
