FUCK YEAH!!! My favorite PJ song! The opening riff just kicks ass! It's the epitome of that album cover. No limits, possibilities are endless. Sounds like you should post to the Yield Fan Club and sign up. Please note the prerequisites.
Love the backstory we got on Single Video Theory about the little tape recorder and Stone trying to get the band to fall in love with it while Eddie tried to come up with just the right words.
It's perfect. I'll never get tired of hearing it. Never forward past it.
I love the way In Hiding starts like a real quiet song that you have to strain your ears to hear the words but then out of nowhere this killer chorus comes in and blows you away easily my favourite PJ song
I also is the perfect song for that album with songs like "Brain of J" and "evolution" it shows the lighter side to the album along with "Low Light"
So in summary the song fuckin' rocks!
it is prob my fav song off of yield and it definitely has my favorite pearl jam lyric ever:
"it's funny when things change so much, it's all state of mind"... absolutely true
This track is inspirational. Has anybody ever done this? Lock yourself in a room with nothing for days, no material distraction, no music, no company but your own? After only the first night, you wonder why water never tasted this good before. And yes, I agree, the first person you see afterwards can set you back 50%...

I totally agree with you...one of my favorites, too...I just love it...
I bought Yield a long time after it was released and was only familiar with a couple of songs when I bought it. In Hiding was one of those songs that made me think, "Why haven't I heard this?"
It's a great song, but did it get much radio play?
"No time to be void or save up on life...
You got to spend it all."
yeah, actually it got as much or more than any other tune on yield, except for maybe Do the Evolution, but that was mostly on MTV, it is a great song and should have been in heavey rotation, and should still be to this day

Great line, absolutely true. So hard to do in life sometimes though, changing your mind :(
I agree on it being underrated. It's a beautiful song and one of my faves off of Yield.

I have been playing this song A LOT lately. I wish they would play this one more...I would love to hear it live. Chicago 98 is a great version, I can't get enough of it.
*it's been about three days now since I've been aground
no longer overwhelmed and it seems so (fuckin') simple now <~~he adds the F word in that version

"Playing a song that hits you on that deep emotional level and being able to match that with what you're playing on the drums - that can just lift you and the song to another level." -- Matt Cameron
GREAT song!!! One of my favorites! Like some of you I've gone into hiding many times as well. Eddie must've been there 'cause he hits it with the line a few of you have quoted about coming out of it. "It's all state of mind" I've heard him sing "three days" "three months" whatever and however long it takes. Anyways....I'll give it some love!
"You think I got my eyes closed but I'm lookin' at you the whole fuckin' time..."

Nature's perfect song.
Yeah isn't that really cool the way he gave us a little insight into the process of it all, that clip is so honest and real, too bad they don't play it more often.
I'm gonna stand here with ya.......So uh.............
I'm gonna give ya a part.................
So I say........ it's ok and you say....... it's ok

Thanks for the reply. My memory is bad, or the radio station sucked. It's what I get for not beginning my PJ devotion sooner!

Thank you for mentioning this song, it is in my top three favorite Pearl Jam songs of all time. It is one of those songs that fits whats going on in my head so well, that if I try to explain my situation to someone, I could do no better than to just sing them this song. Just BEEEEEE, yourself. "I get it, there's a picture of a bee on it."
I shut and lock the front door.
No way in or out.
I turned and walked the hallway, and pulled the curtains down.
I knelt and emptied the mouth of every plug around.
But nothing's sound. Nothing's sound.
I stayed where my last step left me.
Ignored all my rounds.
Soon I was seeing visions and cracks along the walls.
They were upside down.
I swallow my words to keep from lying.
I swallow my face just to keep from biting.
I swallowed my breath and went deep, I was diving.
I surfaced and all of my being was enlightened.
I'm in hiding.
It's been about three days now since I've been aground.
No longer overwhelmed.
And it seems so simple now.
