  I think it may have been made up by the band.
  To my mind it means something along the lines of The science (ology) of everything Vital or important (vital) in life.
  just a guess.

  I looked in the glossary of Vitalogy, but it isn't there. I love the cover/book of Vitalogy. I think there (hidden) messages everywhere. Especially the glossary and general index mean a lot I think.
