One of the funniest PJ lyric misconceptions

My friend was listening to "Sad" with me the other day, and for the first line of the second chorus he thought it said "He likes to masturbate in bed." When the real line is "He lights a match, he lays in bed." Funny stuff. Thank you Eddie for making us all wonder what the hell it is you're saying.

what's even funnier is that the line isn't actually "he lights a match, he lays in bed"...it's "eleven nights, he laid in bed."
no joke.
dsAnd no one sings me lullabyes
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide

Ah ! I heard something similar. But was too embarassed to ask anyone. Hahaha !
Anyway, good that now I know there are many more people who have to strain hard to realize what Eddie is singing.
I think there was a post similar to this earlier too.A Red Mosquito in my Rear View Mirror.0 -

This has always been a funny subject to me. The common term for a misunderstood lyric is "mondegreen" after a bungled traditional Scottish ballad. There's plenty of sites giving more info on the history of it, but the site listed below has over 4,000 mondegreens linked by different categories (and yes, there are quite a few for Pearl Jam
) so check it out, some of the interpretations are down right wierd!
