Cuomo formally unveiled a legislative proposal on Tuesday that he’s calling “Zohran’s Law,” which would require that upon a rent-stabilized apartment becoming vacant, the rent for the next renter must be no less than 30 percent of their income. He said this would ensure rent-stabilized apartments are available for those who need it and not the wealthy.“We must build more housing quickly, but we also need to ensure that our rent-stabilized apartments are going to the New Yorkers who need them the most,” the former New York governor said. “They are supposed to be for hardworking men and women, but far too many rich people are taking advantage.
“We must stop the Zohran Mamdanis of the world from gaming the system and boxing out lower income New Yorkers who are barely scraping by and Zohran’s law will do that,” Cuomo continued.
Mamdani earns more than $140,000 per year in his role as a New York state Assembly member and has said he pays $2,300 per month in his rent-stabilized apartment. Cuomo also rents an apartment but pays significantly more than Mamdani does.

Anywho they want to eliminate the realtor fee. In doing so the realtors say the owner will raise the rent in order to pay for a realtors "fee" then.
The realtor is not about to let that commission go away. It's easy cash for them so it goes to the renter resulting in higher rent.
Just make the realtor fee illegal or some shit and you won't have a problem.
I start to hate living here more and more every year...0 -

The building owners actually leave a dwelling empty and it is more profitable for them to do so and wait out the statute and then rent it a a much higher rate.
This is more for the housing thread though.
Some might View the Democratic nominee as an extremist, hence this thread.

“Mr. Roberts and the Congresswoman have been together since 2014, and have lived together since 2016,” the committee states. “Mr. Roberts has had a spouse pin since the Congresswoman entered Congress in 2019.”
“It is clear that the term 'spouse' – as utilized in this former rule and as seemingly accepted by the Committee by expanding 'spouse or dependent' to any guest – was intended to allow a Member of Congress to bring the individual that they've decided to share their lives with to a charity event, regardless of whether they had taken steps to bring the law or religion into their relationship,” it adds.

When will this committee be concerned about possible insider trading profits by politicians on "liberation day" or care about the quid pro quo of supreme court justices, FCC and stooges of the current admin. It's all bullshit. The right can't claim they care about ethics even if they broke every mirror in DC so they couldn't see their hypocrisy staring back at them. It's all a waste of time and money.
It's a hopeless situation...0 -
Work for the FBI, participate in an insurrection, trespass, and try to prevent the peaceful transfer of power and keep your job. Throw a sub at a LEO while working for the DOJ and appearing “a little light in the loafers?” Get fired.
Any employment lawyers want to opine on the legalities of federal employment law and the application thereof?
I look forward to being schooled in the law.
