Capital D Democrats are not spending political capital talking about this. You know people online are not the official party line, right?

Politicians are always spending political capital. Attention to any area is opportunity lost, especially when it’s off the charts like Epstein files

eventually they will get blamed politically for the Epstein file mess. And since they’re putting extreme effort into it now, it will seem justified. Reason number 10 trillion why the Democrats lose, when they should win,
So let’s just forget about the hundreds of young women who have been abused by Epstein and cohorts? Because they just aren’t worth the effort and time instead just focus on Democrats not winning! How come it can’t be both? Tell you what I’d rather see these women get the justice they deserve instead of having another Democrat  president as long as all the perpetrators get outed including this fuckface president that’s occupying the WH today and anyone involved no matter what political affiliation they have.

It's funny that he is using Epstein issue this way, cause it's so far about the only issue that has brought the D's and regular everyday MAGA together.  Very few issues are this black and white....this issue has a right side and a wrong side, it's not opinion based at all.

Then again, lots of people were up in arms about catholic priests abusing boys....all the while still taking their little son to church every sunday.

Completely not the point. The democrats job is to win elections.

They tell us every four years they have a superior “ground game” yet are completely uncompetitive on the majority of American ground. It takes more than two months before Nov to make a connection with voters. They need a 24/7/365 approach to try to win back tiny  percentages of the vast ground they have lost over the past 25 years, yet here we are again with them playing prosecutor.

I don’t agree with the following characterization but the Rs will call this a political witch hunt no matter how it ends, which will drive the republicans narrative, because trump is untouchable, due to the exact fact the democrats have failed for so long at national politics, they only have three seats on scotus.

Ds fail time and time again by pretending to be prosecutors instead of being the hand that drives improvement and here we are again watching them do the exact same narrative that has failed so many times in the past ten years.

It’s really amazing/disheartening/frustrating/sad how much people talk about big game about protecting children from monsters but how often when it really matters, knowing adults will plug their ears and close their eyes because it’s easier.

Politically, a union between maga and the left is irrelevant, because they will never join forces on Election Day. When push comes to shove , maga will vote R. Some may not show up which is great, but the Dems need to WIN BACK voters in the vast acreage of rural and exurban America they have lost, unless the plan is to win only lower turnout elections. Turn moderates into democrats. They are even starting to quickly lose young voters, which used to be their great hope.  Playing prosecutor, again, and again, gets them nowhere winning back the chunks of this country where they are no longer competitive.

Recently, since they started their “prosecutorial era” they have lost so many regions….Miami. Iowa. Ohio. Etc. While they have gained tiny percents in some swing areas like AZ. In order to make the significant changes to how the country functions, like health care, they need to figure out how to reach voters and win back regions . This prosecutor approach has only failed so far.

I still scratch my head for the level of vitriol Stephen is spewing to a company that paid him $15-25M a year for 10 years.  Add to that, he knew that the company was considering canceling the show and Stephen went through and publicly tweeted that his employer was bribing the president.   Sounds ungrateful, entitled, etc.... to me.   I dare any of you to go on X and blast your company repeatedly and see how long you keep your job.

These celebrities are in love with themselves, and have no idea what it takes to keep a large company like CBS on the right track.  Many large companies have been mismanaged into oblivion.  It's fun to make fun of management, but the amount of hatred that spews from Letterman and Colbert makes me think they aren't so innocent or kind.  They think they are replaceable.

Conan is the only one that has the right to go after NBC.  Conan was the best of all of them, even though the masses liked Leno more.

P.S. It could have been a bribe.  I would love to be paid $125m and fired though.

I kind of assume it’s an act. Because you’re right, he’s still employed for almost another year. I would think CBS still has control over the show and if they wanted him to stop they could or take him off the air for non-compliance. Anyone else gets fired when they don’t comply with their boss, celebrities shouldn’t be any different. Maybe the legal battle for it isn’t worth it, but I still think CBS is ok with it, bring in the ratings for the last year.
Kind of like when Conan went off the air, he “wasted” millions on stupid gags. But turns out it was just a gag, he wasn’t wasting that money, it was just part of the bit. But it was still funny.
Either cbs doesn’t care because of the deal anyway, or they’re okay with him trash talking them..

Since its première, in 1997, “South Park” has managed to offend nearly every political group, pop-culture fandom, and religious denomination. Now the show has pissed off Donald Trump like never before—to the point where the White House has issued a statement condemning the new season première. In the episode, Trump is portrayed as a deeply insecure leader (endowed with a micropenis) who literally gets into bed with Satan, his apparent lover. The ensuing gags often come back to his anatomy, or his penchant for memes. But the show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have solved the conundrum that has plagued comedians since Trump’s first term: He’s an endless wellspring of material, but what he says and does is inevitably more absurd than any satire could be.

Although “South Park” has declined both in quality and in popularity over the years, it’s still valuable enough that Paramount recently paid $1.5 billion for exclusive streaming rights to the series, and for the show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, to make another 50 episodes. The studio has long been in the process of merging with Skydance Media—a deal that was in a holding pattern for about a year, until Paramount agreed to pay $16 million to settle a lawsuit that Trump filed against its subsidiary, CBS’s “60 Minutes.” A few days before the F.C.C. finally approved the merger, Stephen Colbert, the host of “The Late Show,” on CBS, called the settlement a “big fat bribe”—and then his show was cancelled, ostensibly for financial reasons. All of these are crucial plot points in the latest “South Park” episode, “Sermon on the ’Mount,” which is now available on Paramount+.

Is the episode too much? “Probably,” Tyler Foggatt writes. “Yet there’s an age-old tradition of political vulgarity, of which Trump himself is a practitioner—it’s the crux of his appeal.”

That sounds like a ton of money (and it is, more than I thought that show would be worth), but that’s for exclusive streaming for 5 years + 50 new episodes, about 5 seasons worth of new shows.
Thats 300 million a year for streaming and new material for 5 years.. They think SP is worth 3 times what Colbert is. That might be true.

One thing not mentioned that I thought of the other day, ad value has got to be pretty low. When’s the last time you watched a commercial on a regularly scheduled show like that? I can’t remember when I have. I always DVR it and skip commercials. The only commercials I watch are live events like sports, and when streaming and you can’t skip the commercial. 2 million viewers now probably isn’t worth what 2 million viewers was 10 years ago. It’s not surprising they look at the future and realize there isn’t money in late night tv anymore.
