So I am confused as to why she was detained.  Did she impede the process of ICE?  If not and if she did ask for a lawyer multiple times and wasn't granted one then she should sue the pants off them.

If you get in the officers way then yeah, you will get detained but they also shouldn't be over the top aggressive like that.

I agree on the first sentence, they don’t make that clear. You can make some inferences, like the the agent says “don’t block the way or more will get detained,” maybe she was blocking and not just observing, but we don’t really know.

It doesn’t sound like she needed that lawyer. If she was never mirandized and never questioned, then they don’t need to provide a lawyer. I believe your right to a lawyer only exist if criminal charges are being sought, and doesn’t sound like they were. They detained her then looks like they decided to not press charges. Which biblical under certain circumstances, which like we mentioned earlier, isn’t really clear one way or another.

if you are arrested you have a right to an attorney to be present during routine questioning.

thousands of people get arrested and detained every single day in this country and how many of them are actually charged?

She was detained though, not arrested.  Cops can detain you for just about anything and let you go. That I know. Like i can get detained for not having my drivers license and refuse to give my name.

I look forward to seeing the Medicaid recipients doing this:

    https://www.instagram.com/reel/DK4x1-nxwTR/?igsh=MXc3YzNxeTZhNXlvYg==

The idea of forcing Medicaid recipients to do that kind of work is beyond absurd... and he knows it.  It's trolling on a grand scale.
We haven't even begun to see the affect of forcing those hard working, highly capable workers out of the country.
Food prices are going to skyrocket.  If I had the energy and the right soil, I would have put in a large garden this year.  If I lived in a big city, I would start up or get involved in urban farming or a join a community garden or do rooftop gardening.  I'm just very lucky to live in an area that has a fair amount of small farms and a decent farmer's market.
Seriously, get busy, be prepared.  This is not going to get better overnight.

Right. But sounds like she wasn’t questioned.
What I meant when I said only if criminal charges are being sought was if you’re being questioned as a suspect. If you’re being questioned as a witness they won’t mirandize you. You still have a right to a lawyer if you want, but they won’t provide one.
So the fact she was never questioned and only detained a few hours, there was no obligation to provide an attorney. It’s not like they have a room full of attorneys next door waiting in line, and as soon as she requests one he comes in.

They need reasonable suspicion to detain someone, which has a lower threshold than probably cause.

If a cop has reasonable suspicion that your are under the influence while driving but you don’t consent to a field sobriety test, they can detain you until they get a warrant or something.
Now reasonable suspicion can be subjective and can argue it in almost any scenario.

I never said you don’t have the right to one. In fact, I specifically said you always do.
I said they won’t have to provide one in some cases.

you get pulled over for speeding and demand an attorney, you think they’re going to provide you one?
No, he’ll just write you the ticket and move on. You can provide the attorney yourself when you fight it in court 3 months later.

She was accused of assaulting an ice agent. They detained her for a few hours, decided not to press charges and released her. She was never questioned. Not unreasonable she wasn’t provided an attorney within that timeframe.

Bigger question would be if there was reason to suspect she assaulted an agent. I’m sure there’s camera everywhere, if she came nowhere near to contacting any of them, then she has a case for that.

ANYONE still think  they're just looking for criminals? I'm scared.
This is out of a horror movie.

With their huge budget and full support of fascist govt they'll be everywhere.... sporting events, concerts, shopping, amusement parks. No one will leave their homes but obviously by video they march through neighborhoods too.

How incredibly low we have fallen...
    From Heather's letter 7/12/25:
Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) said: “These detainees are living in cages. The pictures you've seen don't do it justice. They are essentially packed into cages. Wall to wall humans. Thirty-two detainees per cage…. There are three tiny toilets that…have a sink attached to it, so…they get their drinking water and they brush their teeth where they poop, in the same unit." Nine hundred men are currently in the facility.

The thing about those toilets is that’s normal for holding facilities. And elected officials only care when it’s convenient for them. Similar facilities were used under Obama, then when Trump used the same ones AOC goes all in on the drinking poop water narrative, then Biden uses them again and it’s all quiet.
i haven’t seen pictures of the crowded conditions so I’m not commenting on that, but they should give up the fight about drinking toilet water, because it just isn’t accurate.

My question Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz would be of the 4 pictures above, only one was taken under the Trump administration. But yet they are only referred to as “cages” and the concern of the toilet/sink combo is only mentioned in the years 2016-2020, and again in 2025.
Can you show me your complaints of the cages outside of those years or the use of the sinks and other conditions? Because from here it seems like fake outrage (referring specifically to the housing conditions, not ICE)

Ever tried to go to Singapore, China, or Japan without a visa? Yeah they do not give you a place to stay. They just say no. As shitty as those pictures may seem, it is still better than most countries.

But you guys are still okay with this, aren’t you? Just normal stuff and it’s okay because he’s the “other, ‘other’ other, right? From Letter From An American:

Those numbers are unlikely to improve for the administration in light of yesterday’s ICE raids at two licensed cannabis farms in Southern California. Agents used less-lethal ammunition and tear gas in the raids. A number of people were injured, one critically. Agents arrested 200 people, including George Retes, a 25-year-old disabled veteran and U.S. citizen who worked at one of the farms as a security guard. Agents claimed Retes was a protester. His family has been unable to locate him, telling Josh Haskell of the local ABC affiliate that the local sheriff’s office and local police departments all said they do not know where he is.

Yeah I would have to agree on this one. Raiding pot farms in Cali? Surely we have bigger problems.

Why do they call them “cages” only when trumps in office?
And about specifically the chain link and toilet/sink combos, I have absolutely zero problem with that being used.
That doesn’t mean I have no concerns about any of the treatments. But chain link and those sinks are used all the time, but some people only take issue with it when Trump is in office and ignore it when it was Biden or Obama. That doesn’t seem a little odd/fake to you?

I’ve said before I don’t agree with the ice raids. I think the increased ice budget is a waste of money. People who have an established life here should be allowed to stay. I disagree with a lot of what ice is doing.
But my comment was specifically about the conditions of the holding cells, or more accurately reflecting on the comments about them.
Why are they only called cages when it’s Trump? Why do people only have an issue with the plumbing when it’s Trump?

There is nothing wrong with using chain link or the type of sinks being used in itself. Going on camera about it in tears like AOC did only when the other side is in the White House is fake.
