Go ahead see how many Medicaid recipients will work those fields with crap working conditions sun up sun down!
I want to hear the republicans side of how this works.  There has to be more missing from this article.  No way they think this works? How are Medicaid recipients in say NY going to work for farmers anywhere else but NY?

Some things they do are overtly stupid, most of you will say all, I don't get it.  Some things I do as that was the platform they ran on but this one?  yeah I don't get it.
You mean Republicans in the senate & house? How would they know isn’t this legislation from the administration? I doubt they sought out advice from them! All you have to do is look at Miller he’s pulling all the strings like an evil prick that he is.

What I find incredible about The Hill article was the comment, “we must be strategic and how we are implementing the mass deportation so as not to compromise our food supply.”  Is that not essentially admitting the work these people facing deportation are doing is important and valuable?  If so, why would we get rid of them?

Or perhaps, more cynically, is she suggesting that as a country we will squeeze as much productivity out of these workers as we can before we toss them aside?

Thats why they want to transfer the people off of medicaid to do that work.  It's literally what they said.

Here’s a breakdown of Medicaid recipients. IDK when these people will find the time to work. Completely unhinged expectations and people cheering this on or think it’s correct are equally as unhinged.

Nice info 👍 thanks, someone should show that to that creature who says it’s very doable and easy to implement
I don't know about you but I want that 12% receiving caretaking to go pick my avocados!

Yeah and it wasn't more than a few weeks ago that trump said they would be exempting farm workers...then just recently his Sec of Ag said there would be no leniency given.

Very confusing...which is to say that this is the stupidest admin in the history of the world. No one know what to do because it all hinges on what the orange fuckface feels like at any given point in time.

It's like the guy in another thread saying that if you aren't making enough to pay rent where you are at you should get a better job and move. Simple as that.

So yeah...in this case just get rid of the seasonal workers that come in for that job only and hire people on Medicaid....brilliant

So I am confused as to why she was detained.  Did she impede the process of ICE?  If not and if she did ask for a lawyer multiple times and wasn't granted one then she should sue the pants off them.

If you get in the officers way then yeah, you will get detained but they also shouldn't be over the top aggressive like that.

I agree on the first sentence, they don’t make that clear. You can make some inferences, like the the agent says “don’t block the way or more will get detained,” maybe she was blocking and not just observing, but we don’t really know.

It doesn’t sound like she needed that lawyer. If she was never mirandized and never questioned, then they don’t need to provide a lawyer. I believe your right to a lawyer only exist if criminal charges are being sought, and doesn’t sound like they were. They detained her then looks like they decided to not press charges. Which biblical under certain circumstances, which like we mentioned earlier, isn’t really clear one way or another.

if you are arrested you have a right to an attorney to be present during routine questioning.

thousands of people get arrested and detained every single day in this country and how many of them are actually charged?

She was detained though, not arrested.  Cops can detain you for just about anything and let you go. That I know. Like i can get detained for not having my drivers license and refuse to give my name.

I look forward to seeing the Medicaid recipients doing this:

    https://www.instagram.com/reel/DK4x1-nxwTR/?igsh=MXc3YzNxeTZhNXlvYg==

The idea of forcing Medicaid recipients to do that kind of work is beyond absurd... and he knows it.  It's trolling on a grand scale.
We haven't even begun to see the affect of forcing those hard working, highly capable workers out of the country.
Food prices are going to skyrocket.  If I had the energy and the right soil, I would have put in a large garden this year.  If I lived in a big city, I would start up or get involved in urban farming or a join a community garden or do rooftop gardening.  I'm just very lucky to live in an area that has a fair amount of small farms and a decent farmer's market.
Seriously, get busy, be prepared.  This is not going to get better overnight.

Right. But sounds like she wasn’t questioned.
What I meant when I said only if criminal charges are being sought was if you’re being questioned as a suspect. If you’re being questioned as a witness they won’t mirandize you. You still have a right to a lawyer if you want, but they won’t provide one.
So the fact she was never questioned and only detained a few hours, there was no obligation to provide an attorney. It’s not like they have a room full of attorneys next door waiting in line, and as soon as she requests one he comes in.

They need reasonable suspicion to detain someone, which has a lower threshold than probably cause.

If a cop has reasonable suspicion that your are under the influence while driving but you don’t consent to a field sobriety test, they can detain you until they get a warrant or something.
Now reasonable suspicion can be subjective and can argue it in almost any scenario.

Refusal to provide ID can be enough to get you in the back seat. In handcuffs. Shut up and get a lawyer. Say nothing and play along.
