Helped a painted turtle climb over a curb yesterday. Keep your eyes peeled when driving.

I love turtles and tortoises!  Seems to me I read somewhere that only turtles have that zigzag back end of their shell and not tortoises.  Any idea if that's true?
I don’t know but this one has come 4 years in a row to lay eggs. 4 years ago she somehow got past my aluminum fence and got stuck and had to keep my dogs inside for a couple days to figure a way to take care of her. We brought her across the street to a nature preserve and after I took this photo she found her way over….although I had to stop traffic to make sure she got there.

Close call. They will eat cat food if you leave it outside. We had outside cats as kids and all sorts of critters came on by. Pretty sure someone in my house got sprayed.

last night I forgot to bring in Butchs bowl. Imagine he left some dry food in the bowl like usual. for a feral he's well fed by me alone and I know others in the neighborhood feed him too.

early evening its the raccoons. sometimes overlaps with the possums. then 2-4 am is a skunk. was surprised to see one at 630 or so in full daylight......

left him/her alone and it exited the yard fairly quickly.

I'm glad you didn't get skunk sprayed, M!  The thought is horrifying!
Years ago, I lived in a single-wide mobile home and a skunk sprayed the outside of a wall right where I had my LPs line up in alpha order along the want.  Literally for a few years after that the "E"s had a slight skunk smell.  Sorry, Brian Eno!

I was surprised to see him/her. This was near an owls nest that had attracted a lot of birders. This was the first time I had a day time sighting.
That same morning I had a bald eagle fly about 15 ft over me my head. No time to get out the phone/camera.

saw a youngish(based on size) Bald Eagle today flying across our outerbelt while I was driving home from work. Following Alum Creek.....

    Home Improvement BUTCH Edition.

Put together a little platform for Butch's house and water using an odd size pallet and section of unused cedar fencing. He's now almost level.
