Which one had the giant chicken you can ride? Was that 2 (US) or 3?I've never played 2. I thought 3 was a pretty fun game and it would've been a breakthrough at the time had it had a proper North American release. it was the first FF to introduce the Job class system as well as added battle commands like Steal & Jump and the Summon skill.I'm not sure why they skipped over them. I might just be talking out of my ass here but I think it was due to the lack of interest in RPG's in the west.
No, they were actually skipped over. Final Fantasies I-III were all developed for the Famicom in Japan, but only I got a NA NES release. FF IV-VI were developed for the Super Famicom in Japan, but only IV and VI saw release on the Super NES. Those were released in NA as FF II & III, which is where the numbering conflict comes from. Everything since VII has been developed for Playstation and all US entries have been numbered properly since.Vitalogensia said:I don't think they skipped over 2 and 3 as much as there was a weird conflict in the numbering of games between the Japanese and American releases.Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250 -

I appreciate the background! I'm not sure why but I had thought, say, the second Final Fantasy was released as II in Japan and IV in the US. I feel about as cool as Quina Quen.HesCalledDyer said:mace1229 said:Were the original 2 and 3 not as good, or why did they skip over them? I've never played them.

Oh and I forgot. XIV was not developed for Playstation, but rather Windows. Due to terrible criticism it was completely scrapped and replaced by FFXIV: A Realm Reborn which was developed for Windows and Playstation.

Just read this morning that FFVII will only be released on PS4, which sucks big time. But I guess I'll be getting a new gaming system, so that's cool.

Has anyone played the FFVII remake? If so, how is it?0

Pretty amazing so far. All of game 1 appears to just be Midgar, so there’s a lot added to it obviously. Turning a 5 hour level into it’s own game.Vitalogensia said:Has anyone played the FFVII remake? Awesome. I can't wait to get it, but have to get a PS4 first. I might play the remastered versions of X and XII before I'm able to though!cp3iverson said:

Getting pumped for FFVII Rebirth next month, then I see this: Sony Is Releasing a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth TV (gamerant.com)
I don't know much about TVs, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say this TV will be expensive and unnecessary to enjoy the game, and that I want it.0 -
I have enjoyed some of the older games in the series, but I can't say I have kept myself interested enough to keep on going with it. All these games take way too much time for me as a matter of fact, & time itself appears to go by so much faster now that I am older.
In a way I wonder myself how I could stay involved with it all, but also in a way I can say good geeky times were had & gamers who enjoy FF can be from jus' alright all the way to being fairly cool imo.Post edited by Auratonal on0 -
To each their own. I’m probably less than fairly cool, but considering that these are one-player games, I’m all right with that. I enjoy my hundreds of hours with Final Fantasy and Zelda games much more than most shows and movies.0
