Aren’t the tanks and military display because it’s the army’s 250th birthday that just happens to fall on the same day as trumps?
look back in history and see if there were public parades by the army or any other branch on an anniversary. the 225th. the 200th.
    the end of ww2....

its one thing to have these on a base or multiple bases to commemorate a date. its another to have them on public streets.

And Tanks or Missle batteries? Soviets/Russia does that. China does that. North Korea does that.

Budgeted some 16 million out of the 45 for street repair. Is that wise fiscal responsibility when this fuck and his minions fired a bunch of people willy nilly and canceled a bunch aid programs without proper authority in the guise of reining in spending?
I think anyone in office would be having a celebration for the 250th anniversary of the army.
It probably wouldn’t be as big.
And, like many things the government does, is going to be over priced and a waste of money.
But I just don’t think it has anything to do with his birthday. Calling it a birthday parade seems ridiculous to me. He’s had 4 birthdays in office and he waiting until it la fed on the 250th anniversary of the army to celebrate it?

It’s costing too much and could have been smaller. And Trump wants to have bigger and more extravagant demonstrations while he’s in office to spotlight him and the “great” job he’s doing. But this parade would have happened if his birthday was 6 months ago. I just disagree with the motive for the lease many are saying. It’s a “look, America is great again” parade.
a real republican would have said that this is too expensive and they would have told trump to celebrate his birthday with his loving friends and family like everyone else.

this is a vanity parade. nothing more.

Huge turnout at the Capitol in MN even after the violent assassination of the former house speaker and attempt on the state senator in the early morning. I think it made some of the dem politicians stay home out of caution with the shooter still not captured, but the masses still came.
    It's a hopeless situation...

The capitol in Minnesota was a madhouse in terms of turnout.  Pretty uneventful from what I saw.

    From The Guardian:

Tens of thousands protest Trump administration in largest US cities

We’re starting to see some numbers trickle in for protest attendance.

New York City police said that 25,000 marched down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan on Saturday, according to NBC News. In Philadelphia, the crowd totaled 80,000 at its peak, the outlet said.

Los Angeles has seen more than 20,000 demonstrators, authorities said. San Diego officials said that “20k +” demonstrators gathered downtown.

    ********************************************

    Mostly peaceful but...

Four San Francisco protesters hit by car 'as a possible intentional act' - report

NBC News reports that a driver hit at least four “No Kings” demonstrators in San Francisco several hours ago. They reportedly suffered “non life-threatening injuries.”

The driver, who has yet to be identified, fled but was ultimately detained, according to the outlet. Authorities are investigating the event as a “as a possible intentional act,” NBC News said, citing three sources.

The hit-and-run unfolded shortly after 12 p.m. local time.

Me & my better half attended the protest here in Suffolk County town of Port Jefferson probably over 2K in attendance! All peaceful lot’s of honking in support but also the usual MAGA driver flipping off the crowd, but it felt really good to be amongst likeminded folks of all different makeup’s and lot’s of smiles

    Good job, Jose!

We got flipped off every now and then by angry red-in-the-face drivers.  I guess some people just hate the idea of not having a king.  No return finger from me, I just kept waving as people went by.  Otherwise, lots of positive waves, thumbs up, peace signs, and, what's really cool, lots of American flags both among the protesters as well as from supporters.  I'm not a flag waving kind of guy, but we'll take that flag back, no problem!
