Got out to the Mets game last night. What a treat to see a complete game shutout. So rare nowadays. The energy at the ballpark was special. Place was jam packed.
I was there too Peterson was dominant 1st complete game by a Met since 2019 and that Soto HR was a blast! Well over 40k in attendance

“first since 2019” is crazy. Marichal used to throw 30 a year. In fact, Juan has more CG’s than W’s.

Exactly we were talking about afterwards same with Seaver he had a lot of complete games! I thought for sure once he gave up two hits in the 8th he was done for the night so to see him come out for the 9th was a big surprise

That’s nuts that you were there too! What a small world. It’s been an incredibly fun season to watch. Team feels special and the place has been packed.

231 for Seaver; 244 for Marichal. Now, as Verlander says, it’s usually “five and fly.”

Man, that's nothing: Cy Young had 749 CG's=LOL

It sucks that a CG nowadays are so rare. Watching a half dozen pitchers pitch for each team in a 2-1 game doesn't do it for me.

You guys ever hear of Warren Spahn? 382 CG's.

The winningest Lefthander ever and to me, most underrated.

I wonder what percentage of his 363 W’s were CG’s. Gotta be damn near all.

    Fucking Yankees-Red Sox.

    Top 9th, 1-0 Sox.

Garrett Crochet going for a complete game shutout. He's never gotten an out in the 9th inning in his career.

    Ben Rice grounds out.

    Judge up.

    Judge was 0-3, 3 strikeouts.

2-2 count. Took a 100 MPH fastball on the inside corner. Was a ball, but could've been called a strike.

The next pitch was hit over the Green Monster, out of the park, on to Lansdowne Street.

This sounds bad, until you realize the American League is basically junior varsity, which makes this much, much worse for Crochet.
