I really thought that when Ed started playing Future Days at PIT N2 that it'd be followed with All or None. That would have been rad.
Hunger Strike was pretty good in that spot, though.
Absolutelty!!! I've seen All or None live before, but haven't seen Hunger Strike. It was a great surprise on a very meaningful day.

Sleight of Hand... killed energy... but I get the trilogy
I think Sleight of Hand was personal favorite of the night. So glad I got to hear it night 1. Damn... four weeks ago today I started to make the drive to Pittsburgh. Can I go back in time... does anyone have a DeLorean?
Sleight of Hand was played at my very first show, Pittsburgh 2000, so it was absolutely fitting it was played at my 20th show in Pittsburgh as well.
When I first heard it live 25 years ago, it’s what really made me appreciate how excellent of a song it is.
I feel like I’m at the point where I just want to hear whatever the band wants to play. I don’t need any gimmicks or trilogies to make shows special at this point. At almost 35 years in, they’re all gifts and I’m just happy to be there as often as possible. I’ve yet to ever see an average Pearl Jam show let alone a bad one - they’ve all been amazing - so I’m good with letting the band set the course.
If Breath or Crown woulda been played instead of Evolution on N1 😬
im so bad 🤣
No.. most anything instead of overplayed DTE would have been good
DTE is the biggest snoozer in their catalogue for me. But I get why they play it often, especially with the visuals on this size screen.
They used 2 different videos across the 2 shows, night one was I think the OG video and night 2 was a bit different....The live playing on night one was a match for the video...was pretty cool to see. Some people around us in the good floor seats were Premium buyers and were kind of shocked by the visuals which was good to see LOL.
"Populated with every reject and cutthroat from Bombay to Calcutta. It's worse than Detroit."
DTE has been played at probably 90% of the shows I've been to. I think there are other hard rocking songs that could get the crowd going, but it is what it is.

I always enjoy it. It’s got fantastic energy and good crowd participation.
Agreed. Plus it’s the song that got me into the band!

This might be not be a popular opinion but the snoozer for me at shows was Wreckage. I went to 6 Dark Matter shows and it was played at all 6 shows. It is an ok song, but the crowd didn’t react to it much. I got tired of hearing it. I didn’t see Waiting for Stevie once. I wish they could have substituted it at least once.

I agree. Wreckage of course is not a bad song but I felt it took the place of other DM tracks like Stevie, Got to Give and Won't Tell, which I enjoy more.
So many emotions around it. The show was an emotional roller-coaster for me. Elation when they finally played the song I requested, Insignificance; many tears during the wishlist tag, catharsis singing along to Hunger Strike, and pangs of bittersweetness when the show was over and with it - the tour.
I think superfans seeing multiple shows need to take a step back and realize most people are seeing a band for either the first time, or low single digits. A coworker knows I like Pearl Jam and asked if I like, “Alive and Do The Evolution.” DTE was super popular when it came out, the message lyrically resonates in 2024/25 and the visual element of the shows.
Wreckage is the most-streamed song off of Dark Matter.
I saw Tom Petty a couple times and would have been disappointed if I didn’t see “the hits.” Most fans in an arena or stadium aren’t seeing the band for the fifth or tenth plus time.

I get what you are saying, but if you are playing two nights in the same city, maybe only play it one night.

This is something I always try to remember when I get a more “pedestrian” PJ show, as we like to say.
I just saw the Sessanta tour a couple weeks ago and admittedly I don’t know much Primus or Puscifer, but there were only two or three A Perfect Circle songs I actually knew and one of those was cut pretty short to segue into another song I didn’t recognize. Enjoyable show, but not very memorable at all. I own zero Primus records or CDs but knew more of their stuff than APC, which is who I really wanted to see most.

The only repeats I was disappointed in were from dark matter. I love the album, I wanted to hear more off of it
