My favorite tribute album is "I'm Your Fan", which features various artists performing Leonard Cohen songs. It features R.E.M., The Pixies, Nick Cave and Ian McCullough (Echo and the Bunnymen).

Compilation albums for the Punk and Hardcore scene were a must back in the day. Two that I loved and one of them changed my life.

Give Me Back. It is where I first heard Bikinin Kill and Spitboy among others. I bought it because of Born Against. They were a local NY band. Just a fantastic album from front to back.
The album that changed my life and the reason I bought Give me Back was this one.

Flex Your Head. It is where I learned about Minor Threat and Henry Garfield(Rollins). Amazing bands like SOA, Teen Idles, Govt Issue and Faith were all heavy hitters. Another album that you just put on and don't skip a song.0 -
This is intriguing for the other artists as I got to see Cohen live and was not my thing.JOEJOEJOE said:My favorite tribute album is "I'm Your Fan", which features various artists performing Leonard Cohen songs. Yep. Not tributes, but straight up punk comps were great for teens who didn't have a lot of money. This was music we didn't hear on the radio, unless you were listening to Rodney on the Roq, who also put out great comps. These comps introduced me to a lot of bands.

How do u know about Rodney on the ROQ? He was only on KROQ for what I remember. He always was putting out local bands. He was missing the mark when I listened back in the mid 90's but would get some good ones on.lexicondevil said:Yep. I grew up listening to Rodney on KROQ in the 80s. He introduced me to a lot of punk and new wave bands back in the day. I'd see him around in clubs every now and then.tempo_n_groove said:
