<< Debating the issues and ways to solve problems that plague our world, open exchange of ideas, that’s how we advance and evolve. That is what I mean by diversity of thought. >>

I 100% agree with this statement. That said, we face some challenges that make doing this much, much more difficult than it needs to be. One challenge is that we are not all operating with the same set of facts (and there is no such thing as "alternative facts" -- those are called "opinions"). Another challenge is that we do not all (and I include myself here) possess  enough knowledge about the issues that are up for debate/ resolution. A third challenge is a deficit of critical thinking skills. Fourth, there is a level of immaturity that enters discussions all too quickly -- where we have one set of standards for people we like and another set for those we view with contempt or disgust. (in the specific case that started this thread, Bruce Springsteen and Ted Nugent should enjoy the same rights regardless of how *you* feel about their views or their talent; nobody is being forced to pay attention to or listen to either of them)

A few weeks ago, I was at a protest in front of a Tesla dealership, with a sign saying that due process is a right conferred on *everyone.* A few drivers gave me the finger. A woman stopped and said "we have to get the fentanol off the streets, folks!" (it's fentanyl, but whatever) I've bee thinking about her comment ever since. Why? Well, I do think fentanyl and other hard drugs are a problem! There's a discussion to be had there, and I bet that, once we were presented with the actual facts about fentanyl (how it gets into the country, how much, etc.) that woman and I would have found that we agree much more than we think we do.

On the other hand, conspiracy theories are not facts. To have a productive discussion, we need to exist in the same reality, you know?

"You know there's some little coquette up here who thinks she's getting us excited by pulling her top up and showing me absolutely nothing. Hey look guys ... look at my mosquito bites from this summer. It's all fucking girls gone wild bullshit. If every girl who pulled her top up educated herself and voted! And by the way, little lady, I'm just not turned on by that little thing. I'm into much harder core stuff. I actually like to shit on little girls heads just like you; that's what turns me on."

And he failed the test, right? The goal being to disregard what he said recently.  instead of debating policy you go after the speaker to try and diminish their credibility.

I know. That’s what I’m saying. You pulled a quote from 25-30 years ago that has almost zero relevancy to deflect from his point. The thing is, everyone who wants things to progress forward can be deemed a hypocrite by people who resist change.

I hear you and appreciate the discussion, Go Beavers.

Based on what Ed said in Pittsburgh:

What issues did he and Trump talk about

What conversations did they have about those issues

What debate did they have about those issues

    Prior to him penning:

"Then there’s Sitting Bullshit as our sitting president"

    and

"The lengths we had to go to then
To find a place Trump hadn't fucked up yet"

but yet, "The name-calling is so beneath us."

Ed’s comments were referring to Trump’s response to what Bruce said. He referred to policy and Trump’s reaction didn’t include anything about policy, just insults and him thinking he’ll be able to damage his career like he thinks he did with Taylor Swift.

Well, if Ed didn't go after Trump, but only spoke up in order to defend Bruce, I could see why Trump wouldn't go after him/the rest of the band. Who knows? 🤷‍♂️

If Ed decides to goes after him when they return to the road, "in a year or two," that'll be something to watch out for, I guess?

He will only see it if Fox makes a big deal about it. Like with Bruce.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Maybe he does. I mean, he had ten shows prior to Pitt N2 to "go after" Trump. Maybe it's not in him anymore. 🤷‍♂️

Either way, I'm looking forward to the next run of US shows, as my last ones were Ft Worth 2023. 😭
