Sounds like Ed's letting go of all the shit that's been keeping him down. I love that song.
Beer Pressure
A benevolent psycological pressure applied by drinking companions encouraging one to consume more alcohol than one feels comfortable drinking.
It could be interpreted so many ways...but here's my stab at it:
Maybe we put conditions on what we want, because we are afraid of getting it. How can you please yourself if you can't be happy with the outcome of something? Sort of like being rock stars maybe? You finally make it to where you are one, but you don't the fame, but you want the fame? Maybe what Ed is trying to express is how PJ has tried so hard to stay true to be an "underground" band, but they still long for the spotlight. It's a contradiction with no real solution.
Well, that's my thought....doen't mean it's right.
"So i'll just lie alone and wait for the dream,
where i'm not ugly and your lookin' at me."
To me it's about being in a committed relationship and things aren't the way they should be. Maybe you're not giving 100% or something. But you still try to move on, cause it's all or none.
I've been listening to the Boston night 3 experiment and the solo Mike puts in this song is one of the best solos ever.
"I'm lost,I'm no guide, but I'm by your side." E.V.

Certainly that's the easiest interpretation and can be expanded to some many different committed relationships and not just the romantic kind. Family, religion, occupation, giving it your all even when it hurts and you are tired and when it may or may not make a difference in what happens in the end.
If only it were that simple, All Or None. I love this song, Mikey's guitar just soothes the eardrums. The rest of the guys do alright, too. Thanks for your interpretations.
So that is how I learned the lesson that everyone is alone. And your eyes must do some raining if you are ever going to grow. But when crying don't help and you can't compose yourself. It is best to compose a poem, an honest longing or simple song of hope.
That is why I'm singing
