Just wanted to say thanks to Eddie for his speech in solidarity and agreement with Bruce Springsteen about the current human rights abuses of the Trump administration at the end of Pittsburgh Night 2 (5/18/25). I've been deeply struggling with anxiety about the current state of things in America, especially as so few voices seem to be speaking up this time around compared to the first administration. I had been looking forward to these two Pittsburgh shows for a long time, and it meant a lot to hear the band who's been so important to me for so long continue to be vocal.
Thanks, Ed. Thanks, to Pearl Jam. Thanks, Bruce.
I know the band has their lives to live, but I hope they won't be gone too long.

Right on, great comment. It's hugely encouraging when people who can reach wide audience do speak out for those of us who don't have a wide audience. I don't expect every act to do that-- like Neil Young once said, "My main job is to make music." But when they do speak up, they speak for many of us, and that's excellent."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

Knew it was on his mind when he played My City of Ruins on Friday. Then he let it rip on Sunday.___________________________________________

Glad that you found comfort in Ed's and Bruce's words.

Was grateful to see he chimed in the way he did in Pitt. I figured he might after Bruce making the news.
He said some general stuff about the state of things in Raleigh N2 but he seemed to be filtering himself a bit.0 -

Love artists using their voices. It makes me happy for people like the OP and others like them that finds it important and possibly provides comfort and strength in these anxious and uncertain times.Post edited by DE4173 on1993: 11/22 Little Rock

It's tough, I guess because years ago people were either:
1. Shut up and sing (lame)
2. We're with you, Ed! You're preaching to the choir, but okay.
3. Hell yes, Ed! Drag.His.Ass.
I guess the last year and this, fans were upset that he wasn't as vocal.
I imagine he's going to do what he sees fit going forward.
