No matter who Rogan has on, I just can't stand that guy and could never listen/watch his show. I've watched a few Theo Von clips here and there and while he's tolerable, he's still not someone I could handle listening to on an extended basis. Much like talk radio, most extended podcasts have never been my thing. I do like investigative episodes that are based in fact. People riffing with their "bros", naw.

Well…the reply was to a sarcastic “people may have watched it.” With his podcast at three, it seems some do listen/watch him?

Bill Maher’s uncancellable podcast studio has been cancelled.

In 2024, the late night comedian launched Club Random Studios, a podcast company built around his show of the same name. But less than two years later, the comedian’s podcast studio ceased operations, two people familiar with the situation told Semafor.

The website that once hosted the network’s shows no longer works. Comedian Matt Friend’s podcast has not shared a full episode since late last year. Journalist Rikki Schlott, who announced a show with the network last year, also hasn’t shared an episode in months.

Club Random Studios did not return a request for comment.

i don't listen to podcasts. mainly because most of the ones i have heard are stupid and or sharing disinformation.

maybe his relevance is why people are so stupid then.

Now, where’s the “new rule” for men who abuse women and elect an abuser of women to be POTUS? Sounds like victim blaming to me. Is Bill hiding something?

I like that he has people with differing opinions on his show. one of the few that will host the other side. I still watch it when I can.  It was definitely a better show Pre-Trump but everything has become left vs right these days with little debate at times is getting a bit stale.

Sorry guys, I'm not following what was wrong with Maher's bit about encouraging women to break away from abusive relationships and report abuse, especially because the people he was talking about can all afford good lawyers and protection.
Of course, if a woman lives in a city, county or state that is weak on convicting male abusers, I can understand why some may be hesitant or afraid to report abuse.  But encouraging those who are in a position to safely report abuse and leave an abusive relationship sure sounds like a good plan to me.
And I say all this of having had a good friend literally drink herself to death because of having been abused when younger.  Abuse is a terrible thing and needs to be brought out in the open and dealt with.

I'm with tbergs on this one. He's not just encouraging women to break away, he's saying it's their fault if they don't. That's gross. To suggest that women also have the choice not to tolerate certain behaviours in order to move their careers ahead is shockingly out of touch. He thinks cuz metoo is 8 years old, all of this went away? That's insane.

I don't even agree with him on the take of the "if you have the money, there's no excuse" stuff. Sure, Tina Turner did it. There are countless others that didn't. That couldn't. That feared for their lives, their careers, their friends, their contacts, their reputations, etc, I could go on, that honestly, if there's more Diddy's out there watching this, he just gave them a green light to continue their deplorable behaviour.

    agreed...he's right

And yes, it's an age old issue with sexual assault where comments like that are "blaming the victim" but maybe the discussions need to be elevated so that women who are assaulted get out of those situations. In DIddy's case it is really interesting to read the victims texts telling him that she loved the freak offs. Not good for the prosecution.

He's guilty of assaulting her for sure but she didn't mind the sex acts according to her own texts.

    That’s not really a 1:1 analogy.

A closer one may be an addict. “If you want to stop, just quit” Well, sometimes there are reasons why you can’t and it’s easier said than done.

Putting the onus on an abused person because they found themselves in a bad situation rather than the people creating the bad situation isn’t right.

No I agree. Diddy should be convicted of assault (at a minimum) and hopefully spend a decade or more in prison.

What Tim said, but to add:

You simply cannot discount the effect the abuser has on a person. The victim will often still seek approval/affection from the abuser, sometimes even going as far as enticing the abuser with their own abusive behaviour. Does it make the case harder to win? Does it cast doubt? Definitely. Does it mean it wasn’t abuse? No.

And in your poker analogy, which Tim also correctly stated was not apples to apples, it never is as simple as objective logic. When there’s extreme manipulation involved, yes, some would go back every week for the beatings, for reasons you and I will thankfully never understand.

If I join a men's poker party every Sunday and every Sunday those men beat the fucking shit out of me then I probably have some fault at continuing to go back to the poker party. I shouldn't go to that party anymore unless I like having the shit beat out of me.
What Tim said, but to add:

I get it...I just think Bill was going for the angle of we have seen this happen so many times that we need to get to the point where the abused stop rationalizing it. The discussion needs to be in the open enough that when this happens they know to leave...no other solution.

No doubt, we need to promote a culture that supports those who want to leave and create means to do so.

Sometimes its complicated. Love and feelings and devotion and commitments make it complicated. Tough to get an up top 30,000 ft view from being down in it.

I just think Bill glossed the issue like it shouldn't be a problem because big names like Cosby and Weinstein were convicted so everyone should be able to get out from under it and there should be no more reveal about what happened 10 years ago. That's totally underestimating the complexity (children, finances, housing, vehicle, device monitoring) of these situations and the sometimes years it takes to escalate to clear abuse. A lot of people don't even recognize the behavior as abusive because they're not being beaten or even physically abused. There's the whole power and control aspect that fucks with the person's mind and makes them doubt what's happening is even abuse because they don't hit them, yet.

I've seen it over and over again both from a LE perspective and in a college campus environment. Not to say it doesn't happen to men as well, because it does, but it's primarily women dealing with this.
    It's a hopeless situation...

No I agree. Diddy should be convicted of assault (at a minimum) and hopefully spend a decade or more in prison.

trump will try to pardon diddy because diddy was nice to him.

    just watch.
