R.I.P Mike Peters (The Alarm)

in Other Music
Unexpected (to me) and very sad news. I saw The Alarm on June 1st,
1983, when they opened for U2 at the San Francisco Civic Auditorium,
their very first U.S. show. I had never hear of the band, and they came
out and played a knock-out set. It was stunning, and I became an
instant fan.
Thank you, Mike Peters, for your great, impassioned music.

I did have occasion to meet and talk to Mike a handful of times. The 2 most memorable were when I ran into him in Malibu and a few months later ended up sitting next to him and his wife at U2 NYE show in Dublin 89/90. He was very nice and even remembered our Malibu conversation.
Their music always had an energy to it that to me resonates to this day.
He will be missed.
Thanks for sharing those great memories.
