My Top 30 is pretty fix nowadays - ranking impossible.
Now I have the feeling a TOP 50 would be way harder to do. More 90s, 80s, some favourites worldwide 2000-2025 and above all: masses of stuff older than me to choose from. Die Hard survived the last battle to enter the Top 20 - It Happened One Night was the rival.

There were so many I had to leave out... Leon, The Departed, Thor: Ragnarok, Burn After Reading, Major League, Trading Places, Fletch, Ford vs Ferrari, Bullet Train, The Replacements... I would have struggled to keep it to 30!

    All time top 5:
    Mulholland Drive
    2001: A Space Odyssey
    The Conversation
    The Departed
    This Is Spinal Tap

    World Cinema:
    Persona
    Dogtooth
    Cache (aka Hidden)
    Wild Tales
    Fitzcalrado
    Amores Perros

    Modern Masterpieces:
    The Grand Budapest Hotel
    Ex Machina
    Drive
    Whiplash

    Misc:
    Paths of Glory
    Barry Lyndon
    Blue Velvet
    Lost Highway
    Eraserhead
Finally saw Ex Machina a few months ago. Impressive and scarily realistic in the current tech landscape.

Whiplash is such a good movie as well.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I love a lot of the movies mentioned. Don't think I've seen these mentioned, but I'll watch these anytime they come on:

Mad Max: The Road Warrior (Saw this as a kid and loved the dark dystopian vibe)
Speed (Pure summer action movie fun and Dennis Hopper is fantastic as a "madman")
Seven (Love the dark grittiness of this movie)
Edge of Tomorrow (Such a good movie, rewatched several times. Emily Blunt is the best.)
A Quiet Place (see above about Emily Blunt)
Looper (Great concept and execution of what can be a tired genre involving time travel)
Sicario (Benicio and Brolin are great and of course, Emily Blunt)
Get Out (Good modern horror/thriller with original script)
Scream (Probably my favorite horror film of all time. I love this franchise)
The Usual Suspects (Great cast and plot twist)
Dazed and Confused (Still love this movie and the end of school craziness it brings back memories of)

    Of those mentioned, my favorites:

Raiders of the Lost Ark (Always and forever the best)
Aliens (pure nerve racking chaos and bad ass Sigourney with some sweet Michael Biehn action)
Inception (this movie makes my head hurt and is such a great original concept)
T2 (About as perfect as an action movie can be and tops the original 10x over)
Pulp Fiction (Such a damn good movie and Sam Jackson is legend in it)

    It's a hopeless situation...

I love The Departed. Awesome movie. A few slow spots, but some great acting and the no one is safe type plot that keeps it interesting. Bullet Train is another I could watch over and over. Great snappy dialog and action.

Anyone with a Top 20 incl..
    Nightmare on Elm Street  ;)

or as a serious contender for it.

It would be - along with those named  in my list and The Descent - one of the rather few Horror movies in my Top 100.

+ Anyone in Universal Horror Classics - or even one in the own Top 20!!

    This is so hard.

Without much consideration I can definitely include...

    Forrest Gump
    Shawshank
    Pulp Fiction
    Lord of the Rings
    Die Hard
Ben Hur (the first remake, 1960s)
Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure (I grew up in San Dimas and went to San Dimas High, so...)
    Dumb and Dumber

Of the last year, I really loved Wild Robot, so that will probably be on the list.

Will have to give some serious consideration for the rest.

I used to ride my bike down to that circle K all the time and get an icee.
They filmed that end scene at our rival school because they had a better auditorium.
But it was really cool seeing so many local things, (circle K, raging waters, etc.)
My dad worked at the San Dimas sheriff station at the time where they did the whole jail scene. We couldn't go anywhere on vacation for about 5-10 years without someone quoting the movie to us when they ask where we're from.

I still have a box of Bill and Ted playing cards where it advertises a chance to win a trip to San Dimas. Whoever won was probably disappointed when they got there. Except it can be a hub for Disneyland, LA, all the Southern California tourists stuff.

HA Raging Waters!  Now theres a place I haven't thought about in years!  In the second one they get pushed of that cliff.  That is my favorite place on earth, Vasquez Rocks.  In another life I used to live in Santa Clarita and Saugus.
