Help with this Poster May 12, 2006

in Lost Dogs
I bought this poster years ago on eBay and I was wondering what anyone knew about it. It is the same as the show poster for that date, but obviously it is a promo. I cannot find any information anywhere and I even emailed someone at the Ames Bros. website, but they never responded. I am assuming it is a promo for the show, but I cannot find any others around.

For reference, it is 12 x 18.

    What type of paper is it on? Is it a silk screen?

    Without knowing those details my guess is that it’s a bootleg.  Mostly because it seems unlikely the show poster artwork would have been done far enough in advance of the show to be useful for a “coming soon” promo.  Also… the size lends itself to bootlegging because they can be printed on commercial printers.  That’s why I was curious as to the ink and type of paper. It’s almost like they added the coming soon and arena logo to beef up the length of the poster so it didn’t look tiny if they just bootlegged the show poster.  

    Cool poster either way.

    Another possible give away that it’s a bootleg… The name of the company is Ames Bros.  I’ve never seen Ames “Brothers” on an item.

    Promoters sometimes commission artists to create promo posters for events. That might be what this is.

    I appreciate the feedback. I had it hanging up for years in my house, so it has not been out of the frame for a long time. As best I can recall, it was standard poster paper stock. Thanks for the information!
