^Yes, Florence and the Machine were great that night! Was happy she was in the slot right before!0

Tonight I will return to the site of my very first show a quarter of a century later. That show transformed me from a big fan of the band to the obsessed mega fan I am today. I do remember after that show and the 03 show at Lakewood that people complained about too much of the new stuff. I wonder if those that complained back then are the same ones that are now begging for more Binaural and Riot Act?
In 00 it was the first time I had ever heard Crazy Mary. When the die hards sang along spelling out No L-O-I-T-E-R-I-N-G allowed! I was like "what is this song?". In 03 I was singing right along as I was then a die hard.
Grievance and Insignificance were both played in 00 and 03. HailHailVitalogy would have loved it. (I did as well. Would love even one of them tonight or Thursday).00 - Atlanta 10 - MSG I&2
03 - Birmingham, Atlanta 22 - L̶a̶s̶ ̶V̶e̶g̶a̶s̶, Camden, Nashville
04 - Asheville, Kissimmee 23 - Ft Worth 2
08 - Tampa, Columbia 24 - Philadelphia 1&2, Baltimore
09 - Atlanta 1&2 (EV) 25 - Raleigh 2, Pittsburgh 1&2

Was it the 2003 show at Lakewood where Stone majorly screwed up the opening riff in Alive? It all starts to run together...
The '98 show at Lakewood is still in my top 3. I was lucky enough to find the poster for that show on eBay in maybe 2009 or 10? And the Music Midtown poster from 2012 is my favorite of all of them.0 -
Awesome memories, keep them coming!
A tiny request! My daughter was born 30ish hours after the last Atlanta show. She needs some help convincing her that PJ are at least the second best rock band in the world.
She won’t be at the shows this week, but she can listen on the boots. She is a HUGE Sleater-Kinney fan. We went to their Atlanta show together recently and she LOVED IT!
Could y’all tag Modern Girl to something tonight or Thursday for Amelia? She loves that song so much and this would push her over the top to come with me next tour.
If not, no biggie, I just can’t believe we have a 2 night stand in Atlanta! What a blessing! 🤘0 -
Almost time Atlanta!

So happy you got the Modern Girl tag! Hope you had a blast.0
-
Thank you! 🙏 Got excited when Not For You started. If they tagged it, that was going to be it. Very happy.
I got a nice video clip of it from the floor and texted it home to my daughter!
She texted back! She loved the video (and had to send a pic of our dog, Waffles)! Next tour I think I can convince her to come to a show!0 -
Happy day after an Atlanta show! Wow. Last night was amazing.
So happy they played Modern Girl (especially to hear Not For You, it’s been awhile for me!). Saw my daughter this morning and she was pretty happy. She loves that song (and The Woods is her favorite S-K album!).
Highlights for me were Can’t Keep (a new one for me to hear!), and Deep!! I screamed when they launched into that. Finished off Ten for me!
So much fun, and met some cool people from New Orleans, Tuscaloosa, Milwaukee, and even a local!
One more tomorrow! Maybe an R.E.M. tag for Thursday? Or just ask Mike Mills to drive up from Macon and come on stage!
Thank you, PJ!0 -
Mike Mills was in town, he joined Gang of Four on stage at their show last night.9/1/98 Atlanta, 9/22/12 Atlanta, 10/30/13 Charlotte, 10/14/14 Memphis, 4/13/16 Jax, 4/16/16 Greenville, 4/21/16 Columbia, 8/20-22/16 Wrigley, Nashville/Louisville/St. Louis 20220

April 19th, 2003, PJ comes back to the Lakewood amphitheater for the Riot Act tour. A great show, they start off with Love Boat Captain, 4 other RA tracks make an appearance, including 1/2 Full (that’s a great one to hear them jam on). You Are gets scratched due to technical difficulties (I caught this at MSG that summer).
Other notables, a nearly all cover second encore? Interesting. Brendan O’Brien comes out to play on a fantastic (and at the time quite rare) Crown of Thorns. He’s local, so might we see Brendan tonight or Thursday?
Also, not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 George W. Bush’s show up to support Eddie on stage during Porch (they literally hold him up while he sings!). Funny stuff. Great show!
Finally, we move onto the last show! It’s September 22, 2012 and not only has Music Midtown made a comeback, it has the Foos and then PJ headlining! My wife is super pregnant with our second child and had decided prior she wouldn’t chance going to the show (she will be there with me tonight in GA!). My sister and her now ex came along. I pushed my way through the crowd to get fairly close. It’s a beautiful late summer night in Piedmont Park, and almost a full moon. PJ delivers an absolutely amazing two hour set, full of hits, sing alongs, Know Your Rights, and 5 great Backspacer tracks (amazing for me as I had missed the entire touring cycle for BS. This show marks a 6 year drought ending!).They get all the way to the end, curfew is fast approaching, and Eddie says the next song is 8 minutes, we’ve go 3.5, but fuck it, let’s do it. (He even mumbles to someone off stage, “I’ll pay for it!”). They proceed to play RITFW (I know, people get tired of it), but I had never heard it in 11 shows, and was dying to hear it! 6 years with no PJ, they come to my hometown, put on a great show, and I get to hear this track? So good.
And that Munk One poster is an all time great!
On a personal note, I head home from the show, wake up the next day, my wife goes into labor, and about 30 hours after show’s end, my second child, Amelia is born! What a weekend! ❤️0 -

Atlanta, tonight is the night! Second of our two night stand!
For those in town and visiting, share some of the fun stuff you’ve done in Atlanta. I’ve heard about tours of Truist, visits to the Gwinnett Stripers. What else?
Per our thread title change, let’s bring the positive energy again, as Tuesday was electric!
(And PJ, Setting Sun would be awesome, still need to hear that one!)
Again, a second ATL show! Can’t believe it, so cool!Let’s bring it tonight!0 -
Wow, not sure what to say, except these two shows were stellar and the energy level at both was through the roof!
Pearl Jam, THANK YOU for coming back to Atlanta for a two night stand. A dream come true! The setlists were incredible, particularly the encores for each night!
Thank you for all of the fun Atlanta history stories and shout outs to local sports legends!
I know you all felt the Atlanta love, and hopefully these shows were if not legendary, then pretty close!
Safe travels PJ, and we will see you next time (sooner rather than later! 🙏)!
P.S. My daughter, Amelia, was thrilled to see my Modern Girl video I took, and first thing this morning asked me where her PJ shirt was that I bought her so she could wear it to school. Next tour, she’s coming with! ❤️0 -
We traveled from Los Angeles for the 2 ATL shows. Both shows were amazing and we loved exploring ATL.
We went to the aquarium, Little Five Points and the Carter Library.
We had some great meals, but the best has to be the BBQ we gobbled-down at The Twin Smokers before N2.
Had never been to the waffle house before so we saw fit to eat there for breakfast 3 days in a row!0 -

Coast for those shows too and we are missing Waffle House hard! 😆0 -
Sounds like fun trips! I am going to check out Twin Smokers now!
Love that y’all loved Waffle House! Man they are a dime a dozen down here (one spot I know has two on the same side of the main road and literally across the side street from each other!).
But they are good! Love those hash browns, particularly that cheesesteak hash brown bowl. Yum. And open 24 hours, 365 days. But why do they still have locks on the doors? 😂0 -
