I’m a big movie buff and love discussing cinema and personal favorites with others. I couldn’t find a recent thread on it, so I hope it’s ok that I start one.

I love pretty much every genre, not big on western or horror, but enjoy a couple each in both. My Top 20:

1. Almost Famous
2. Deconstructing Harry
3. The Big Lebowski
4. Die Hard
5. True Romance
6. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
7. Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
8. Goodfellas
9. Pulp Fiction
10. Wayne’s World
11. The Wizard Of Oz
12. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
13. Raiders of the Lost Ark
14. The Empire Strikes Back
15. Aliens
16. The Omen
17. The Shining
18. Crimes and Misdemeanors
19. The Godfather Pt. II
20. Batman Returns

Can’t name a top favourite, can’t rank 1-20 and cut down to 20 is really tough. Pulp Fiction is out + True Romance is (probably) in for example. Roger Rabbit is in for sure + maybe the only US animation movie, Monster Inc. would be the next. Alien/s? More than one Western for sure. One from Korea for sure.

    Aliens
    Alien
    The Shawshank Redemption
    Jaws
    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    L.A. Confidential
    Die Hard
    The Thin Red Line
    Ran
    City of God
    Better Off Dead
    Paddington 2
    North by Northwest
    Chinatown
    Predator
    Inception
    No Country for Old Men
    The Descent
    Do the Right Thing
    The Departed

Damn, this is tough! Tried to get a range of genres in there, but definitely took a best “movie” versus “film” approach. Some of these I just have such good memories attached to, like Better Off Dead. My mom and sister love that movie (me too).

Was able to see both Ran and City of God in theaters, and they were powerful.

I will always watch Predator (might be my favorite Arnold movie).

Die Hard is my absolute favorite action movie. It never disappoints and generally sets the bar for me. Saw that one upon release as well and it just blew me away!

L.A. Confidential? So good. I remember watching it in the theater, and when Russel Crowe snaps that chair? Damn. I was scared of him!

I watch a lot of horror, and they get scary sometimes, but nothing has got me as scared as The Descent. That movie is mean. And claustrophobic.

But if you ask me what my favorite movie is? Aliens. (Yes I love Alien, it’s on here!) But, that movie really stuck with me. Saw it in the theater at 9 years old and maybe 20 more times on my VHS copy from HBO. I just love it. Also, Sigourney Weaver is just so nice. Had the honor of meeting her about 20 years ago. Super cool!

I remember watching Die Hard in a cinema was a next level spectacle at that time. And there was a buzz around The Descent before official release like „best Horror movie in XX years“. My Top 100 would be with The Descent and pretty sure with only 5-8 horror films. LA Confidential confused me in the theater because I finished the book less than a week before. Therefore I watched it again in a theatre few days later - a masterpiece in itself, definitive Top 100, possibly Top 50.
