Around the Bend...

what does it mean to you? This song's meaning changes so much for me. Sometimes I see it as Ed singing to someone who's passed on and he's saying he'll see them soon. But then other times I just see it as a love song. It all depends on my mood. What do you all think?

    I think Around the Bend was written about Jack Iron's kid if I'm not mistaken.

    I interpret the song to mean that he's tucking his child in and sending him/her off to bed, and is sorry for not being there every night to do this.

    Whatever the meaning, it's a beautiful song and one of my favorites.

    Ed is quoted as saying the song was written as a lullaby for Jack's child/ren.

    Just heard Jeff's take on Sirius about this song.  To me it's a lullaby.  The bend is nightime.  Around the bend is sunrise.  He's tucking in his child (covers up), sending them off to sleep (I cast you off, watching you as you breathe), wishing them a good night's sleep (wishing you a well mind, peace within your cell (bedroom, or maybe inside their mind/dreams).  He's laying next to his kid, head in his arms, closing their eyes.  He seems a bit remorseful about missing past bedtimes, and asking for forgiveness, asking for his angel to share with him her future time (around the bend).  He's wishing for her health and safety (soul to keep) for many days after.  Being a girl dad, this song really hits home.
