In my tree…

I made these monotypes using a Gelli plate.

I’m working on a series of ‘tree portraits’
This is a new medium for me and I’m loving the possibilities…..

    Gorgeous.

The thread title is what got my attention... my favorite PJ song, hands down.

    Yes^^very tribal
Art is captivating. Those images can be picked directly from my brain. That owl visited me while fishing. Fox...only saw its tracks in the snow. Woodpecker...many times. Those are impressive. Can dig deep in an old tree with ease leaving a signature rectangular hole.

    Killer all around.

Would love to see imagery that recalls the lyrics / song title. A silhouette in a tree with a puff of smoke floating away from either the joint or the lips. Moonlit. and Oceanic.

Working full time + caring for elderly parents isn’t leaving a lot of free time to be creative, but I did just teach a summer art course (to make some extra $$$ to finance fall tour) and here are some of the resulting student works:

    Clay-

    Collograph -

Laser cut stencils w/spray paint over acrylic backgrounds:

    In different color variations ~

Cut paper w/printmaking and watercolor: These next ones are made by creating digital images using Photoshop/Illustrator then cutting through different values of paper with a laser cutter and overlapping.

Cut paper shapes over printed pattern + watercolor:

Holy awesome. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
This took less than 5 min. So, for me, artistically minded. It's a matter of having space, found objects, a clear mind.
'In Your Tree' on a cool piece of bark.

Poplar bark just screams to be painted on. I did a bunch of trout on another and left in the wild.

I never saw that cut paper type of art. Very unique to me.

Oh that's sweet you guys. I wish I saw this one I had to teach art class. All the BC teachers scramble here to incorporate standard 19 which is to include First Nation Inuit, and Metis.

So cool Loujoe! Did you take that picture?
  • LoujoeLoujoe Posts: 10,356
yes.  That particular day bunch of different woodpeckers were hanging together. This guy today. Birds are fascinating. Lot's of bluebirds perching on top of the cut corn. Too far for a picture but surely could paint one! Binoculars brought them in close.  Robins in big numbers.

The bark on that hickory tree is super unique.

Here’s what I’m working on now.

This dragonfly design is painted in ‘underglaze’ on the inside of a bowl I threw on the wheel this past summer…& am finally getting around to finishing.

Still in limbo about what color to glaze the outside…
  • LoujoeLoujoe Posts: 10,356
Wow. Really like the interior texture of the bowl. Looks like ripples in water. Truly beautiful.

Maybe the glaze could be like a muddy brown or whatever you'd imagine a pond's edge to be. A nice green. Rocky greys or blacks.maybe sunny yellows or oranges.Don't know. Look forward to seeing it!
