I took a cue from the boys and as a nod to their Christmas singles for the past 3 years I've been doing a Valentine's Day single.

    Thanks so much, it's really nice to be validated in that way. A lot of the time I post here and it just crickets and thats much of what having original music in this day and age is. And I appreciate you taking the time to listen.  :)

    That was really good. Did you record it at home/locally and just send the digital tracks out for mixing and mastering? I am starting to finally record and really don't want to have to do all of the heavy lifting with learning how to properly mix and master.

    Yes! I do all the producing and tracking myself. A dear friend takes care of this mixing and mastering. It's a good and bad thing of having control of the writing/producing process because I have no one to answer to which means I can work at my own pace & know what I want. I think there's somewhat of an echo chamber with that though. I mean PJ is a band at the end of the day, a collective, they've had producers bringing out in an enhancing all their strengths. This is just me doing everything & not having to rely on others which is good in terms of not having to wait on other elements but it also only coming from a singular side. I liked to believe having someone else mix and master is helpful. If I were doing that I think I would have sat with it for too long, it's better to have someone else's ears on it.

    Agreed! I have that conversation with musician friends all the time. Doing everything by yourself can be great but I always second guess my choices. Sometimes things never get "done" due to constant tweaking.

    I have been writing and working on my current set of songs for forever. Only now am I starting the process of recording, which is ridiculous because I have EZdrummer and Presonus Studio One and could have at least recorded a rough deno years ago. I doubt myself, and there is also the fact that I have to learn and relearn how to use these damn DAWs. When I was younger I would use two boomboxes to record tracks back and forth. I also used a padded chair as a bass drum. I guess I had more energy and drive when I was a teen.
    I think I might hire someone to mix and master. I bookmarked the site of the guy who did your stuff, as a starting point. What DAW are you using?

    Yeah, I need to just get some shit recorded. My procrastination is ridiculous.

    I use logic. I had some what I've a recording background, which is helpful.
