The top federal prosecutor in Washington D.C. has an unusual backstory.
He has no prior experience prosecuting violations of the law. Instead, he has defended people accused of breaking it, after the Capitol riot on Jan. 6.
Ed Martin advanced bogus claims about election fraud in swing states in 2020, and he spoke at a boisterous rally in Washington the day before the siege on the Capitol.
"Thank you for standing with all of the patriots next to you," Martin told the crowd four years ago. "And thank you for standing for our president. But remember, what they're stealing is not just an election. It's our future."
The Justice Department went on to charge more than 1,500 people with crimes at or near the Capitol. And Martin went on to defend a few of them in court, and to sit on a board that offered financial support to their families.
Last year he told the Unimpressed podcast that 99% of the Capitol defendants were normal people.

So yesterday US Deputy Attorney general Emil Bove appeared in court to justify the motion to dismiss the case against New York mayor Eric Adams. And that was a big deal.
Not only did he openly admit to the political nature of the dismissal, he also extended the reasoning behind the Trump immunity ruling to potentially governors, mayors and police commissioners. 1/2Essentially Bove claims that none of those people can be held accountable in court if it impacts their ability to either continue in office or even just run for office (as long as they plan to implement gov political aims). That is only if the DoJ deems it so, of course.
Bove also called the dismissal of criminal cases justified if it's being done in order to facilitate their cooperation with the US president’s agenda. Bove: “It’s a totally appropriate consideration.”
2/2Bove also said that this does not constitute a quid-pro-quo, and even if it did, that was OK.
The list of people who are considered above the law in the US appears to get longer and longer.
I am not sure if Judge Ho can let him get away with this, even if all hell breaks loose. If he does, be prepared for "conditional immunity" to extend to whoever the administration wants.

Vance Day was suspended by the Oregon Supreme Court, and then rejected by Oregon voters. His appointment is an afront to all people concerned by justice and democracy.

What's your actual opinion on these things? Your post are like a rebus puzzle. Are you ok with this or do you think media and the left are exaggerating the significance of what appears to be some type of war memorial with Hitler as it's centerpiece. My opinion is, this is fucked up and coupled with his openly anti-gay and other questionable beliefs makes him unfit to be an unbiased judicial official beholden to upholding justice. He's welcome to his personal opinions, but it's seems he's made them the focus of his work in the courtroom. Sounds like a good candidate for the current SCOTUS though. I think his displaying of a portrait of Hitler is offensive and unbecoming of an official no matter how it's dressed up (as a collage). My first thought was it was just a portrait without all the other photos, so it had me curious what it actually looked like. I read his justification for it, but I don't agree. He was told how awful it was and apparently removed it.
Same with his open anti-gay stance. Unacceptable.

This, like many posts, could go lots of places, but I could see shit heads like these suing based on the president's own words indicating they were political prisoners and wrongly convicted before pardoning them and wiping the slate clean. Current DOJ will have to then defend themselves while also shooting themselves in the foot by trying to speak out of both sides of their mouth.
