Yet another Charles Bowden. This one is called Desierto: Memories of the Future. What can I say? I'm hooked. What an amazing writer! Bowden's genius was especially evident in his ability to create flashes of brilliance the will knock the reader on their rear end.
And this one is quickly turning into a favorite. Besides being brilliant, it's giving me a hankering to get down to the desert this spring. It's been way too long.

I don't read much, and this is going to sound dumb but I wish I did. My anxious brain just doesn't allow for that type of deep concentration a lot of the time. But I was watching Rick Rubin being interviewed, and he mentioned a book that changed his life, so I picked it up. Going to start reading it tonight.

I've heard similar from several people about that book.   I could probably use to read that one as well.  I hope you find it helpful.

That sounds like a great idea, Pap!
The thing I really love about Rubin's book is that what he writes about can be applies to pretty much anything we do.  It's amazing that way-  and you can get a bit of this from what he says in the clip.  And thanks for posting it!
