School shooting in Örebro, Sweden

5 people seem to have been shot. 

Press conference 15:30.

Örebro is the hometown of Swedish punkband Millencolin, their album "Pennybridge Pioneers" being a word-by-word translation of the city of Örebro.

Pretty sure this is the first school shooting in Sweden's history.

    I’m so so sorry to hear this. I’ll be interested to see what a progressive country like Sweden does to try to prevent this, versus when it happens in the Divided States.

    I don't think we make that distinction here. Some of our more infamous school shootings were exactly that.

    Based on the last part people here seem to think it was racially motivated. But who knows.

    Is it known if it was those killed were targeted specifically or just targets of opportunity?  that being known, would suggest if this was racially morivated. that fact if doesnt make this worse or better,  its still. the same sad tragedy.

    Everyone's in disbelief. It's a huge event here obviously. The PM held a press conference, saying the things one can expect.

    Can we make assumptions about the colour of the shooter's skin based on the fact, that people like Marie LePen, Nigel Farage and Alice Weidel don't push this news down our throats?

    Despite the mental problems, according to Aftonbladet's information, the man had a weapons license for four rifles. During the crime, he allegedly carried three rifles and a knife, one of the rifles was an ordinary hunting rifle with 30-06 caliber ammunition. There are also reports that a shotgun was used during the mass murder.

    In order to obtain a firearms license, one must undergo an aptitude test. It is the police who do that test. One requirement is that you must have an approved qualification to hunt.
