Red Mosquito

Watched from the window with a red mosquito.
I was not allowed to leave the room.
I saw the sun go down and now it's coming up.
Somewhere in the time between I was bitten.
Must have been the devil.
He was just paying me a little visit.
Reminding me of his presence.
Letting me know he's a-waiting. Ohh...

Red man's your neighbor. Call it behavior.
While you're climbing up slippery hills.
Two steps ahead of him. Punctures in your neck.
Hovering just above your bed. (x2)

I was bitten must have been the devil.
He was just paying me a little visit.
Reminding me of his presence.
And letting me know he's a-waiting.
He's a-waiting ohh there. Yeah.

If I had known then what I know now... (x4)

a couple of you have asked if this "Mexican food" scenario is what caused the infamous Golden Gate Park concert incident back on 6/24/95 when Eddie left the stage after 7 songs. I cannot confirm or deny this. You will have to draw your own conclusions :)

I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.

always loved this song, has a rollicking feel to it (i guess you'd be swaying if ya had some bad mexican food haha). i heard it was tuna as well that afflicted poor ed that day in GG park (that was my first PJ show too!)

i always just thought this song was about mortality and just remembering the inevitable for all of us. man what a downer, i really need to get out of work now! haha

  • still like the original version better, because on the new version they basically took the song away from Mike and that song has the best Mike moments for me...I would love them to end a show with this song, and it goes on for like 8-10 minutes, with just a HUGE jam with Mike tearing the crap out of his guitar
Please don't smoke in smoke free buildings. You aren't cool, you're just an asshole
  • mike still has his solos... but they gave some solos for BOOM :D

    and i loved :D

Red Mosquito has been one of my personal favorites off of No Code. This song just touches me more than any other song off of any album. Sometimes, it even brings me to tears. I was happy when I got to hear this song live in MSG II.
