About React\Respond
Whitman joined the band for this run, starting out by immersing himself in the crowd to capture the shows exactly as fans experienced them—energetic, and in the middle of it all! As the tour moved forward and his relationship with the band developed, he gained further access to backstage and behind-the-scenes moments. Even with that expanded access, Whitman kept the fan perspective at the center of his work, letting it guide how he documented each night.

The photographs in this collection bring those viewpoints together, blending the immediacy of the crowd with a growing look behind the scenes to present a genuine, dynamic record of the Dark Matter tour.

First, step backstage into the unforgettable moment when Chris Osceola [Hollywood Councilman for Seminole Tribe of Florida] reconnected Jeff with a long lost pal of 32 years. Originally rented for tracking Vs., Jeff’s 1961 Fender Jazz Bass was played on “Rats”, “Animal”, and “WMA”. Since the April reunion, the bass can be heard across Leg 5 bootlegs from the Dark Matter Tour.

The 6th of Ten Days of Pearl Jam reveals 2026’s Ten Club-exclusive item! This t-shirt commemorates 35 years since the band played their first gig on Oct. 22, 1990, as well as the Mar. 10, 1991 debut of the group’s official name, Pearl Jam.
