    This has got to be one of the greatest Pearl Jam songs ever. I can't believe they didn't put it on Binaural. I've heard it 20 times now and I just can't get enough. What does it mean when he says "an undertow of futures laid to waste?" Anyone?

    my take on it is that the song is about a man whose love has died, so he's faced with "what could have been" thoughts that are just eating him up inside.

    my new goal in life is to hear this song live one day.

    this is definitely my favorite song on LD right now, i can't go a day without hearing it at least a few times. the way it starts with the guitar, the words are AMAZING. i would love to hear this song live, no doubt - it'd merit a sign campaign in my estimation.

    it's just beautiful, all the way around.

    SAD...can be interpreted in different ways..Some could say it's about a break up..losing the girl...some can say it's about the death of a girl..I agree it is a captivating song with lyrics that are beautiful yet SAD..and the way Eddie sings it brings out emotions you wish you could define into the way you sing your soul onto paper..This is definately one of the greatest..and hopefully we will hear it live!! So we can see the raw emotion...

    Especially in the end when he sings, "If just one wish could bring her back..it's sad"

    this is the first rocking pj song that i have really really loved.

    it in my top 10 or so i'd say.

    i love the riff and the lyrics

    i am making my band cover this the next time we play.

    it won't be as good as the original by fucking miles but we'll give it a shot.

    Pearl Jam never ceases to amaze me. This song is so relevant to someone whom I love very much, the situation they are in right now. I don't really want to go in to details, but it applies perfectly to his life. Made me cry my eyes out the first time I heard it.
