    Wilbur is proud of him.

I saw something that said dave roberts was a probable HOF'er. really? a career .266 hitter with a WAR of 9 over 12 seasons. just because he won 1.5 WS with a billion dollar team? man, the standards have slipped.

it was probably for winning multiple world series titles, there's about 20 who won multiple world series titles and they often get in as managers.

I'd say he's not a HOFer as yet, but the likelihood that he continues on for some time with LA and wins a couple more titles will shift that narrative and he'll get in as a manager (certainly not because of his playing days).

And this is not the typical high payroll team where the manager makes all the decisions. This is basically plug and play with the numbers guys telling them what moves to make.

had a good bar dinner of fried shrimp…but it was kind of dampened by the fact that the TV in my vision was showing d**ger festivities from chavez latrine. fucking sleeveless kershaw…sound was off…maybe he was saying “thank me for not being able to lose in the postseason”?

  • I'm guessing Freeman won World Series MVP? Didn't stay up for the ceremonies.
was the unanmoius MVP. His 12 RBIs tied the record set by Bobby Richardson with the Yankees in 1960.
And that 1960 series went seven games and, despite losing the series, the Yankees scored the most runs ever in a series with 55. So for Freeman to tie Richardson in only five games is incredible.

Another fun fact about that series.  Pittsburgh hit a Homerun in the first game and last game with ZERO in between.

Oh it's the most fascinating World Series ever. The Yankees outscored the Pirates 55-27 but lost the series. Their wins were blowouts (16-3, 10-0, 12-0), and their loses were all by three runs or less, including losing game 7 10-9 on the Mazeroski walk-off. And Richardson, despite being on the losing team, was voted MVP. I wonder if there's a support group for him, Chuck Howley (Super Bowl 5 MVP), and Jerry West (1969 Finals MVP).

I'm trying to think of the series where the Yankees clobbered the other team for 3 games and the other team barely had any runs but won.  I didnt think it was this one...

basically it means a MLB team pays a fee for the rights to negotiate with a given player, kind of PSL in stadiums where people pay for the right to own a seat.

I’ve read and re-read the process. specifically, this is what I don’t understand. what is “bonus pool money” and how does it help you? The difference between $2.5M and $1M is MLB peanuts. fuck it, just let the d**gers have him….they get everyone else.

I guess the confusion might be LA just signed two huge stars from Japan  for over a billion dollars, so how would they have any money left?
