i always thought Porch was about the bullshit that people get caught up in throughout their lives and the roles they make for themselves and/or where society places them. "the cross i'm bearing home, indicative of my place.." and as a result of that, they miss out on the things that they once enjoyed .. "I know when I would not ever touch you, hold you, feel you, in my arms, never again.."There's a fear they'll soon be parting ways.0

Well at the start he's feeling guilty about doing something, then for the rest he's doing the thing that he feels guilty about :S and at the end he's lost something.
:S
But it's WIIIIIIIIIIDELY believed that it's about abortion. I can't see why at all. This puke stinks like beer, and everybody's here, so come on come on come on, let's lay waste to this Century...0 -
the song is dealing with abortion thing and a woman right to choose what to do with her own unborn child! Ed is considering himself as an P.C. guy and he really feels that way.you can see that kind of attitude in all of his lyrics.
cheers
