i think the only people who know for sure are the five members of the band.
but here's my guess:
yield: we must yield to nature and the world at large
no code: don't fuckin box pearl jam in... there's no code to decipher them... (the funny part is that no code is filled with codes and little cool things
riot act: i'm guessing patRIOT ACT
binaural: you didn't mention this, but it's pretty obvious... binaural recording."Nobody is ever promised tomorrow. Increase the peace."

for no code- didnt you mene there are cool codes within the songs? or just on the actual cd art?"The world is dangerous, feel safe here tonight..." EV 9/17/06

No Code - for one, there is no bar code, and it also seems to represent that they were moving away from the mainstream
Yield - that they were yielding to eachother and everything
Binaural - type of recording
Riot Act - there was a bill passed several hundred years ago called the Riot Act in England, I do not remember what it was for though. I doubt it has to do with the Patriot Act, although it's possible.0 -
Eddie once said "No Code is full of code"

yepp, he said this in this berlin 96 after show on the radio
he even gave an example:
if you have the whole (the 4 sides) no code, all photos in front of you you can see a black line going through itBANZÄÄÄ
When he was six, he believed that the moon overhead followed him
By nine, he deciphered the illusion, trading magic for fact, no trade-backs
So this is what it's like to be an adult?

I just tried that with the No Code cover (opening it up), and if you hold it at your arm's length away from you, you can see the No Code symbol in black. It's amazing how they did that, I certantely can't figure out how they did it.0

No Code = No Rules to the band. perhaps the code of past was the sound of grunge. that was a key to the success.
So now they change sounds no code
I'm just ramblingSomtimes i know, sometimes i rise,sometimes i fall,sometimes i dont,sometimes i cringe,somtimes i live sometimes i walk,sometimes i kneel,somtimes i speek of nothing at all,sometimes i reach to myself dear god

you guys are smarter than me. what does ten, vs. , and vitalogy mean?0 -
c'mon! SOMEONE KNOWS!0

ten is mookie blaylock's(is it spelled this way?) back number, this guy is a basket ball player, pj was before they called them pj mookie blaylock, but this guy did like that they called after him
so 10 is the number he had on his back
vs: was originally called "5 against (=vs.) one ",
five = pearl jam vs. one = the world
there are even tapes, yes, the things you but in the recorder that are called "5 against 1"
vitalogy, dunno exactly but i guess it's because ed used a book called "vitalogy" for the cd-booklet
probably it should also be a sign of life, so that the band was still together and keeping on rockin' the free world, but that's just a guess
I don't know wheter everything is correct, probably sb could verify it?BANZÄÄÄ

Riot Act is an act couple of hundred years ago in England that prevented the Riots by that time of the farmers, but I could be wrong, I thought I learned it at history lessons.Wicked Righteous0

I recently stumbled across something that makes the title "No Code" even cooler. Apparently, if a person is on life support, they can choose to be a "No Code" patient, which means that if they die nothing will be done to bring them back. They will simply be left to die in peace. This adds a whole other layer to the album title if you think about it. The band knew that "No Code" was gonna be the album where people where gonna take a step back because the music was very different than on the previous three albums. So its kinda like they are saying "Ok, this may kill us, but if it does at least we can bow our heads and say we had a great run." Just food for thought."The children have to save themselves these days because the parents don't have a clue"-Donnie Darko
"We were done, done, done with all the fuck, fuck, fuckin around"-Modest Mouse0 -
nice thought. good research too!0
