Filthbomb breaks is looking sus. Not sure if any of you follow that sort of thing or not?
Also Fanatics. Mark my words. Will; take over the card aftermarket industries too. They will open up their own breaking and shops soon. They really are evil.0 -
My start to the 1954 set. I have a ways to go. Nice looking cards though.

Once you get the Aaron and Banks the rest will be easy.
Enjoy the hunt!!!0 -
Yes, 2 williams cards. #1 in orange and #250 in yellow. Jackie is in the next batch I am going to need to find. Plus upgrade 1 of the first 5. Raising funds first. Going to start off with a 1 or 2 for Jackie and maybe upgrade later.
A really good set for legendary players.0 -

54 Kaline, Banks and Aaron.
55 Clemente, Koufax and Killebrew.
6 HOFers rcs the same 2 years.0 -
So for the pulse of the hobby right now its dead... I guess everyone is gearing up for the National? The Jackson Holiday SSP's seem to be selling nicely even though they don't seem too rare...
Elly Da La Cruz is exciting but no one cares.
Judge and Ohtani are slaying and nobody gives a hoot.
Buy vintage.
oh and my boy Trout you might ask? People are asking 4 years ago prices for his cards today and are not getting them. I am buying up rarer Trout stuff when I see it.0 -
Juan Soto maybe? He is looking like an emerging stud (well already was good but kind of stashed on Washington and San Diego). If he continues his play and signs a big deal with the Yankees, that could be a big one.
Im sure people have been on that one a long time ago though.0 -

Again, maybe the hype is all about the National?0 -
The hobby is eating itself. Way too much product, way too many variants of the same cards, too many people with an “investment” mindset (remember how Todd Van Popple RCs were going to make people millionaires) thinking their PSA 10 Jackson Holliday is on par with shares of Microsoft or Amazon, and a lot of greed between Fanatics, breakers, flippers and sleazy card shops clearing out blaster boxes from Targets and Walmarts then marking up them in their shops It’s somewhat gross.
Ive been collecting off and on since ‘86. My seven year old kid is starting to get interested in sports. Figured I’d pick up a blaster to rip with him. Something fun. Stopped by the local Target, nothing on the shelves. Stopped at the local card shop, guess what they had… piles of retail blasters marked up $10-20 over retail. Fuck that. We went home and looked through my collection instead.
Nowadays, all I’m collecting is vintage (mainly 1970s baseball and basketball), autos of HOF players.and Ohtani/Ichiro. I’ll let the “investors” and gamblers have at it.0 -

yeah unless you have a 1/1 lock of a HOFer that u puled retail there is no investment.
A bunch of us talk about the massive print runs and then you have the "cheerleaders" who see everything is good and nothing to worry about.
This will continue for a while as the hobby is still experiencing growth. Once that growth stops is when everything comes crashing. What is crazy to me is you have people that will come up to me w a backup running back card that's numbered to 5 and want to trade it for a Josh Allen card. No no no no no. Shoo.
It's people like that that are keeping the hobby afloat. People w junk that still pass it off as worth. I saw this playout in the 90's. History will repeat itself. Loricana might replace sportscards, who knows...0 -

If you do these new products coming out just buy the singles. Cheaper. I'm not chasing anymore.0 -
I just realized that the Ames bros commented on the card. Did they make some of those?0

They were tagged in the post by Topps so I’m assuming they designed them. No?

I personally like what Topps has been doing via inserts. I hope they keep pushing the envelope.0 -
