framed poster thread

A light sanding wouldn’t hurt. Helps the paint stick to the surface. Also I recommend using tremclad or rustoleum spray paint. Is it a wood frame?ZoSoTim said:Someone on one of the PJ Facebook groups recently posted a picture of the Vegas N1 poster in a frame that they spray painted themselves. It was an affordable way to make the print pop more. I’m looking to do that for a Crowes poster I have but I wanted to know if they sandpapered the frame first or just put the spray paint on it as is. Of course I can’t fucking find the post anymore to ask. I’m hoping either that person posts here or someone here saw that too and knows where to find it. I have a spare frame since one I had shipped to me came with broken glass but I’d like more info ahead of time to avoid any potential issues. Can anyone help?0 -

I never do. But you might prime it first.ZoSoTim said:Someone on one of the PJ Facebook groups recently posted a picture of the Vegas N1 poster in a frame that they spray painted themselves. If you do sp, I would use like 000 or even steel wool. Something very light. I started painting frames years ago to add the extra color. Works great.0 -
where did you score the poster from?Torontonian said:Not the best job but was hard enough getting a frame!

It’s an inexpensive frame that I ended up getting for free because the glass was broken in shipping. Of course if it works I’ll have to swap it with another with the glass but that’s fine.SM187650 said:
Never worked with that material before. If you’re not too attached to the frame I’d say go for it.ZoSoTim said:Medium density fiberboardDallas, TX (November 15, 2013)

Buy yourself a mat cutter. The frames/mats you are choosing are not particularly ornate. You're looking at $50-60 per frame job.DavidD said:

Lol I was looking into that.mrussel1 said:0 -
Mine has paid for itself I don't know how many times over. Wait for the 50% coupons for Michael's, then pull the trigger. Start painting the frames too for some easy coloring as well. They can look great without a huge investment. I've also found that Hobby Lobby has the best selection of "standard" color mats, for $9.99.DavidD said:
