LA crowds generally suck... and I go to them all... compared to Philly... stop bugging people who sit. So many people in pit last night near me(and no I wasn't in the middle front with the usual GA frequent flyers) were casual fans. One guy says he hasn't seen them since 920

Some have to sit.
Please consider that.
Bye bye.

I’m 6 months pregnant. Please come and tell me to my face to ‘get the hell up’, cause I’ll be there again tonight, and if I feel like sitting, you bet your arse I will be sitting.Johnny Abruzzo said:Sitting is for Bill Joel concerts. Get the hell up.

No ones talking about pregnant women or those with disabilities that make it difficult to stand. Talking about whole sections of people. These types of things tend to happen in groups because no one wants to be the only one standing in a section of people who all decided to sit. Was at a Blues Traveler concert recently and the whole crowd sat the entire time. The band was basically begging people to stand and the crowd just wouldn’t do it. It felt awkward.BK223722 said:

Personally I don’t care how someone enjoys a show and I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone harassing someone to stand up. It’s always the people sitting down that harass those who want to stand.0 -
I was front row of my section in Nashville. And I was standing, while everyone else was sitting. Needless to say, they were none too happy with me.bootleg said:

I hardly ever sit down at a concert, unless the artist tells us to. Neil Young did that a few times if I remember correctly. Maybe Ed solo as well?
That said, I live in Chicago and have been to every Chicago show since 98. (Car accident in 95 prevented me from going to soldier field)
I have been in some great chicago crowds and some really lame ones. Lame ones were in the 00's, maybe?
Too many non-fans chatting in my ear the whole time. '23 were great crowds. Most of the wrigley shows were great crowds.
I have no problem expressing a differing opinion. The only thing I have a problem with is someone continuously telling other people that their opinion is wrong. Especially when they are on a post-concert high, of "that was the greatest show ever!" If someone tells me that, I am not going to argue with them that it probably wasnt. I am going to let them enjoy the thing that made them happy. And celebrate with them. Never understood the idea behind trying to harsh someone's mellow.

I think we can all agree that we like energetic crowds. I personally stand, and I would rather be within a section where everyone stands and is into the show. But I think what other people are saying is that sometimes there are reasons for people to sit. We are all getting older. My wife sits for a while and stands when she accompanies me to a show. The guy with the disability in front of me sat the whole show. Life is just too short to get consumed with it. I have a much bigger issue with the rampant filming with bright screens everywhere, and sometimes even with the phone light pointing toward the stage. But even that, it ain’t going to stop, so I am not going to let it bother me too much. Doesn’t bother me if anyone sits, just don’t get upset at those who prefer to stand if you can’t see.0

Jeff has a lot of fun with the whole sitting-versus-standing debate. He will usually be funny about it by pretending to be agnostic on the issue, but the subtext is definitely that he likes when people stand. "Don't postpone happiness" sums up his attitude about it.opsopcopolis said:

Saul Goodman. I need to be more clear with my sarcasm, at least on message boards. That’s what the wink emoji is for I suppose.BF25394 said:

It was! Maybe some sections in the upper bowl might have been sitting... I was on the Floor (Section H) and every single person in my section was standing up from beginning to end, headbanging and dancing. Much to the dismay of my wife who is 5'4" and could hardly seemeistereder said:I was in the building. Truly an energetic and beautiful crowd. Sorry if that hurts anyone’s feelings. I saw them last year and he berated people in the pit for standing and holding their phones up. He said you don't have to mosh or get crazy or anything but he wants to see their faces, not just a sea of phones being held up. I understand.pjl44 said:Saw Godsmack in an arena ages ago and Sully was yelling at a guy in the loge to stand up. Turns out he was in a wheelchair. Hand to God I witnessed that.
Tool does it right, you can get removed if you bring out your phone. They have signs everywhere saying you WILL be taken away if you take your phone out to record. (I think they have some warnings first, I saw a guy in front of me get taken out, he missed a song, then they escorted him back a few minutes later)0
