I don't get why people get bent out of shape that someone has an opinion. It's a free country. Let people have their say. Nobody has to reply or bite. Just move on by
Because then it's somehow doesn't justify in their mind they were at the greatest show ever w/ the greatest crowd. I think it's great they feel they were at such a show but, unfortunately the encore and the video don't say that to me. Both can be true!

It was great. Great set list as a whole, great encore especially. Unless you don’t like Pearl Jam, then it wasn’t that great. Or if you just have a negative disposition and people don’t like you.

Black & Garden at Vegas in those early spots were absolutely killer.

I was in a high up section at a Fenway show, everyone around me sitting. Just the worst. They wouldn't get up for In Hiding. Immortality. Footsteps. Just me and some guy back and to my right standing, and all the other people like "dude where's Wishlist?".

I have to confess that last night in front of me were two people, mid-40’s and somewhat out of shape, sitting periodically to take breaks. In hindsight I feel terrible for letting it happen in front of me. As our friend from Chicago points out, this would not have been tolerated at the two Wrigley Field shows I went to, where, indeed, less than 10 people were seated in the entire venue.

Sometimes I love sitting down at shows. I dont think I ever have at a Pearl Jam show because no one else has been around me....but sometimes sitting down and just soaking it in is really great. Especially if you accidentally get too high to stand.

Either way, it's silly to me that some people's enjoyment of a show is in any way predicated on whether or not the people around them are rocking out hard enough. Everyone enjoys things in different ways. Some people are expressive, some are not.

All I can say is that for those in the building - I can only ask for crowds like that at any concert I go to.  It was 🔥 tonight!
It sure was! Amazing show with great energy from the crowd and the band. Still buzzing all these hours later. Got to knock Oceans and Leash off my white whale list and got 9 others I had yet to hear live (obviously includes DM songs, but they sounded fantastic!).

Saw Godsmack in an arena ages ago and Sully was yelling at a guy in the loge to stand up. Turns out he was in a wheelchair. Hand to God I witnessed that.

As long as someone isn't pestering you to sit down, mind your own business. I'd rather skip a show than sit in uppers or too far back for this reason but fully recognize that's a me thing vs a them thing.

Not sure why so much hostility.  Multiple things can be true at the same time.  Yes based on the feed there were whole sections sitting down until Evenflow.  If I remember correctly the side sections immediately to the sides of the stage were not available for 10c for LA?  So maybe a lot of tix held back for VIP types.  Kyle Gass was one of those sitting for much of the show.

But it did seem like the pit and floor were pretty energized.  The band seemed to be enjoying it and sounded great.  Setlist had some nice variety to it too so try to keep the good vibes going.
TY, exactly!...This would never happen in Chicago!! Different people, different city!
There are an awful lot of transplanted Chicagoans here, not to mention New Yorkers, Bostonians and Philadelphians. It's a ridiculous argument.

By the way, have you ever noticed that there are a lot of people who move from Chicago to L.A. but not so many who move from L.A. to Chicago? It's not just about the weather.

First time seeing PJ last night (used to be a music journalist so have seen 100s of shows) and they have definitely still got it! Pretty nice to get to hear my namesake song too. I don't particularly love the production on DM, but it was a lot of fun watching Andrew Watt rock out like a 15yr old on stage with the band.

The performance was really strong - I was nervous about Eddie's voice reading some of the comments here, but he sounded good for 90% of the show and was only fading a bit by the very end of Leash/Alive but the crowd more than filled in. Mike was in amazing form and the most energetic member of the band, running across the stage and out into the crowd near the end too. Eddie seemed genuinely touched to be playing the Forum - told a story about sitting in the nosebleeds with his dad as a kid, and then brought a father and son down from that section to the pit), his friend forgetting tickets to a Pink Floyd song and having to sit in the parking lot outside the venue and listen to The Wall from outside,  and had a nice interaction with a woman in the pit who had brought her 83yr old dad who was also in the pit.

For me personally the setlist was pretty mixed - some all time highs (RVM, Save You, State of Love and Trust, seeing Daughter/In My Tree, Leash, Evenflow live) and then some songs I'm a bit meh on (Come Back, Oceans). I thought the pacing of back to back Dark Matter/latter era songs killed the overall energy a few times - particularly the Scared of Fear through Got Some portion of the set.

My main takeaway is I'd love to see them again and hope for more from Binaural, Yield, Riot Act, and No Code - but that may be the total opposite of other people! I would have loved Elderly Woman, Low Light, Better Man, Leatheman, Hail Hail, or Corduroy but that just happens to be my favorite era of the band.

The crowd energy was strong for a relatively vertical arena vibe, and I was in 134 with most people standing the whole time. I got aisle seats through TC and the view was amazing regardless of what anyone else around us was doing. Hope folks have a great night at LA2!

It’s just what you could see from the feed.  Streamer was in 125, a lot of their section was sitting and 124 next to them was pretty much all sitting.  Then across the way you could see a majority of 113 sitting.  And sitting doesn’t mean you can’t be loud but it is just kind of awkward for everyone and.  It’s a rock show.  There should be no sitting aside from the occasional break/encore.  And it gets worse when people start getting pissy at you for being the only ones standing.  Mon mentality starts to take over.  These sections were held back from the fan club so probably were filled with more casual fans.

I'm with you on this one. In Portland, I specifically got seats at the front of the 200 section, directly side stage so my son could have a better line of site. Our seats were such that even when the people in the last row of 100 in front of us were standing, it didn't impact our view so we weren't forced to stand. I love to stand and get into it, but if the people behind me aren't standing already, I'm not going to stand up and force them to stand as well so they can see. I was pounding my hands on the rail in front of me and having a great time all same.

"Letting it happen"? "Wouldn't have been tolerated"? What, were you going to fight them? Have them ejected? Why do you care if someone else sits? As long as they're not telling you to sit, who cares? Maybe they have jobs where they're on their feet all day. Maybe they have bad backs or bad feet.

I guarantee you that more than ten people out of more than 30,000 were seated at Wrigley Field.

I can be a pretty negative person a lot of the time, and can always find something to complain about. But I'm coming up short on last night's show. It was honestly one of the best PJ shows I've ever been to. Set list was amazing. Totally exceeded my expectations.

This will be my last comment on this...I had spinal fusion surgery this last December, prior to that I had been living in ridiculous pain for 17 years. Last September PJ played one of their best shows ever at the UC and I was there w/ my son who watched me struggle the whole night! I stood the whole main set and sat until the encore started. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if I could do that at 58 certainly whole sections sitting comparatively is a problem. Lastly, If you were there and think it was the best show and the best crowd then I am sincerely happy for you!😎

That's the only thing it's about...Chicago is 1000x's better city than LA and I've lived in both. Chicago in the summer is the best big city in this country btw w/ real people!
If you think L.A., an incredibly diverse city of four million in a county of ten million, lacks "real people," you did not get out enough.

Sitting is for Bill Joel concerts. Get the hell up.
I'm all in on standing. This happens any time Wilco plays a seated venue. Half the crowd stands from the moment they take the stage, and people sitting down scream and yell. But it's all about familiarity, because as soon as they play a song the sitters know, they leap to their feet. So, basically, it's O.K. for them to stand for songs from the one or two albums they know and like, but it's not O.K. for other people to stand for songs they know and like when those other people know and like all of the albums.

I have fortunately never been in a situation at a Pearl Jam show where someone was yelling at me to sit down. If someone behind me were physically unable to stand and I were blocking their view, I would happily trade places with them. But sit down because someone behind me  just doesn't feel like standing up at a rock show? Not going to happen.

For what it's worth, the band definitely hopes the audience will be standing.

La1 greatest PJ show ever, best crowd ever...strange I counted 3 different SECTIONS in the video that were completely seated until EF, the 13th song??? I have never seen 10 people sit  at a Chicago show ever over 20 shows or so. You people that we're there have no clue except for the sections you were in. LALALALALALAND🤔
So you're telling me you watched three different sections for 12 songs? Every time I looked around at the crowd, I did not see any whole sections of people sitting.

I was in the arena with a clear view of those sections, and the people were standing. I'm not sure if perhaps the quality of the video made it look like people were sitting, but the people in those sections were definitely standing every time I looked. I was at the front of the pit so those were the sections I would see when looking directly to my right and left. Eddie was also constantly working those sections and you could see people on their feet.
