    Definitely smells like paint or something...  it's not the vinyl/CD, it's the booklet.

    But then again I love smelling new CDs and books :)

    The gigaCDbook was stinky, too. I left it out on the porch!

    My Ten Deluxe Box set smelled like old vomit when I first opened it. That one sat out in the garage to air out for a few days.

    To Spunkie: yes, it does kind of smell like crayons. Crayons on steroids, though.

    To Dudeman: My Ten Deluxe Box still smells like that. It's like the corpse flower. Every year I open it and people come from all around the county to get a whiff of it.

    Crayon smell from uncoated/matte printed paper stock is the bees knees.

    Damn straight SC. Someone had me close my eyes and take a whiff back in 2002 and I thought it was crayons, too.

    But if anyone ever says: open your mouth and close your eyes and you will get a big surprise, take a hard pass! :innocent:

    We used to call the scent of newly opened cassette case inserts "the purple smell." Always had an almost grape odor. Loved that smell.
