Does Pearl Jam still play their bad songs?

Yo, as I'm following tonight's Dave Matthews Band set list, up pops a song called "Can't Stop" which Dave wrote in 2006, played often that year, went into hibernation and now returns once again in 2008. It's an abortion of a song any way you put it. Awful lyrics, awful music. Boring. Stupid song. And I don't understand why, when they have these amazing songs that they haven't played for years, they decide to return this one.

Hmph. Rant over. My question is:

Does Pearl Jam do this also? I know of a few PJ songs that I don't care for, and a few that are BAD (none as bad as Can't Stop, lol). Do they continue to play these songs with disregard of fan reaction? I don't follow setlists for PJ really.

Thanks

Either you are being sarcastic or thinking of the RHCP song. Nobody loves DMB's Can't Stop. It's very bad.

You know what, I think you're 100% correct, even a couple of songs I hate on Binaural, Riot Act and Avocado are GREAT live.

Gods' Dice, Green Disease and Comatose sounds great live. None a fan of the studio versions though.

well they just pulled out who you are for the first time in 10 years. Its certainly not a bad song whatsoever, but theres quite a few who arent big fans of it. I actually think its a good song, and its sounded WAY better from the tampa show.

The ONLY bad original PJ song (IMO) is the Whale Song, and its never been played live.

    I just don't dig it. Jack's vocals don't work for me. :)
Maybe if Ed sang it ...

I also loathe Gremmie, to the point where I pretend PJ has never done it.

But that's it, really ... I love the rest. I miss some of the Riot Act tunes that haven't shown up in a while, especially Ghost and Get Right.

    yes, they do
for some reason unbeknownst to me
they insist upon continuing to play last kiss (even tho it's technically not *their* song as they didnt write it but they do keep playing it every tour as far as i know since it's fan-club single debut)
    they could stop, seriously, anytime.
i wouldnt mind at all :p

First you must give an example of what a "bad" Pearl Jam song is.

For example, I think "Come Back" is a BAD song, but the rest of the forum masturbates to it.

    So, explain yourself.

nah, i'm serious. i mean i don't love it--but i appreciate the emotion in the song. i like it more than RHCP, but you gotta appreciate it for what it is. just a slow down break in the set list.

That's probably one of the best songs DMB released in 2006. I, for one, am happy to see its return. It's not even an official release, it's just sexy and fun to hear live. Dave doesn't even play guitar for that song, he just croons.

That is funny - those are some of my favorite songs! Bad and Good is SOOOO subjective when it comes to music/art....
