Dates 2/13. Album release is a bit murky, but some think/guess April 5th based on a rumored connection to the eclipse on the 8th.Mrsscuba81 said:Any bets on when the dates and new album will drop?0 -
those fuckers came to Winnipeg ONCE. in 2004 for Around The Sun. played a mid sized theatre. seats 2305 people. the demand was INSANE.bootlegger10 said:R.E.M. they are not. They have done exactly what they want and when they want for the last 20 years. They won't let it get to a point where they never want to play together again like R.E.M. They'll keep it going as long as their health is good and people keep packing arenas to see them.
R.E.M. fans tick me off. They keep buying these album reissues. Make them play shows to make money. I want them to be miserable on stage together!Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0 -
Pixies rumor is for Australia. They are headlining with Modest Mouse & Cat Power opening in NA again this summer. They are too big to open for PJ here.Zod said:I would love it it it were the Pixies. Mudhoney opened the last two times they played Vancouver (2013 and 2011, if i'm not counting Pemberton). I haven't seen the pixies in about 20 years. I think I like the Pixies a little more than I like Mudhoney

Booked the Holiday Inn Downtown in early January for $298/night for 4 nights. Think it’s a 5 minute Uber ride to the venue which works for me.Zod said:
Yah we used to use the Rosedale on Robson as it's more like a suite (even if the beds are old) and it was pretty reasonable, but it's now $1400 + tax CDN$ for the 3 nights.darwinstheory said:
I booked Blue Horizon at the beginning of December. Not the closest to the venue and not a 5 star, but the ratings were excellent. Nearly $1000 USD for 3 nights. I call that very expensive, but I'm a cheapskate.Zod said:Anyone spotting decent prices for hotels in Vancouver?
Sandman is about the same price.
I can get the Hyatt Regency through my work for about $1000 Canadian. This might be the go to. It's a bit further but still only a 20 minute walk I think. That has to be closer than when we stayed at the Flamingo to walk to the Sphere last week.To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. January is the offseason. May is the shoulder season. Probably be more expensive. I ended up booking that Hyatt which I got for $284 plus tax a night (just over $1000 for 3 nights after tax). Seemed like a pretty good deal. I try not to reply on Uber. Might get you there, but it'll cost an arm and a leg to get back.100 Pacer said:

I have no problem walking 20 minutes, worried about my wife's knee
She got through U2 fine though, so that's good

If anyone is looking for Seattle hotels, I would recommend The Mediterranean Inn -> super close to arena, roof top with view of the Sound, and easy bus routes to all over the city.0

That's where I booked! Not even sure I'll be able to make it to one of these shows, but jumped on that place as soon as I saw it just to be safe.BloodMeridian80 said:If anyone is looking for Seattle hotels, I would recommend The Mediterranean Inn -> super close to arena, roof top with view of the Sound, and easy bus routes to all over the city.0 -
I always stay at LINQ for 5 sphere shows and that's a super easy walk! Nothing to it.. way better than those folks waiting for rideshare.Zod said:

At Horseshoe tonight, looks like the walk isn't bad from here. Room was $15 (plus resort fees). Nicer than I expectedgotthebottle said:

I never thought of LINQ when I booked it, but it's right beside Flamingo, so a similar walk. The most important part is both of them are close to In N' Out burgergotthebottle said:

Left during first verse of Beautiful Day (last song). Ordered the Uber from my seat. Uber was waiting for me at the ride share and got to Park MGM with no traffic. Worked perfectly. I am one who will gladly lose a song to save 30 minutes.gotthebottle said:

lol, I never leave a concert early, but usually because I have to travel to shows (due to living on an Island), it just means walking back to the hotel.
I think around 2001 we saw AC/DC in Vancouver and we left just before the last long, as we also had tickets to see Jerry Cantrell do a bar show downtown. I felt so bad looking as the bewildering faces at the pacific coliseum why we would leave 7th row floor tickets early, but stepping into Richards on Richards and hearing Jerry Cantrell's' band (which included William Duval and Robert Trujillo) belting out Man in a Box was priceless. We missed more of Jerry's set than AC/DC's set but we got to do both. Then I pulled an all nighter, got the first ferry back, and wrote a final exam the next day.
The next time and only other time I saw AC/DC was about 10 years later in Edmonton. A Thunder/Lightning storm blew over, so it pissed obscene amounts of rain the whole time. There was thunder, and there was lightning in all directions. Both the band and the audience took it as a challenge and rocked hard. Top 5 show I think. I also figured it was punishment for leaving AC/DC early at the previous show
