Hey Johnny A! After several listens I'd say, yep, it's better than their first album. In that way it reminds me of the AL Shakes' evolution from album #1 to album #2. Chronicles has a bigger, fuller, more experimental sound than their self-titled debut. It channels everything from Wu Tang to Prince, and is a plug-in-and-play album from front to back. Definitely give it a listen!

Sonic Youth: Daydream Nation. I recently finished Thurston Moore's memoir and a book about Daydream Nation. A difficult record that rewards hugely when better understood.
Lee Renaldo: Between the Times and Tides Lee Renaldo and The Dust: Last Day on Earth. Delving into Sonic Youth led me to these two amazing albums.
