    Am I the only one who thinks listing a bunch of show dates in one's signature is kind of ... lame?

    I don't know. Just seems like a weird "who's got the biggest dick" contest to me.
    everybody wants the most they can possibly get

    I do it for two reasons:
    1) As you get to know others in the pit it's nice to recount shows you've both been to. Like this:
    me: you were at the Santa Claus, IN show in 94?
    someone else: absofuckinlutely!
    me: no shit? i was too! section 420, row 69, seat 1.
    someone else: i was in seat 2!
    me: holy shit! i spilled my beer on you twice and sang betterman off key while you glared at me...sorry!"
    someone else: i hate you.
    me: *erasing sig*
    OK, bad example.

    2) So I can remember where the hell I've been. Somebody's gonna have to tell my kids. Now my sig can take the place of the brain cells I've killed that used to hold that info.

    this is a funny topic because after the newark show my friends and i argued on whether or not an ed ved show counts in the grand total (i'm in the lead with my friends!). i've seen pearl jam 37 times but the ed ved show puts it at 38. does it count or do i stick with the 37? then do you count stuff like the tfc in '98 since they played less than 12 songs?
    i say ed ved shows don't count toward the the total. so i've seen pj 37 times and ed once solo.

    I think that listing concert dates in your signature kicks ass. It's the only way that we can quantify our devotion to the band.

    Don't list EV concerts. However if you must, make sure that the font is 1/5 (arguably 1/6) the size of your other dates.
