Join us for Barrett Martin's One Man Show, featuring an enthralling combination of storytelling, film, and live musical performances by the Grammy-winning producer, author, and esteemed drummer of Screaming Trees, Mad Season, and Tuatara.
An overview of the scheduled activities and key highlights of the event are as follows:
6:00 PM - Arrive at Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms for a meet and greet and cocktail hour
6:45 PM - Bus pick up at Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms
7:15 PM - Bus drop off at Indian Cove Amphitheater in Joshua Tree National Park
7:30 PM - Concert Starts
9:00 PM - Concert Ends
9:15 PM - Bus Pick Up at Indian Cove Amphitheater in Joshua Tree National Park
9:45 PM = Bus Drop off at Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms

Barrett Martin, a Grammy-winning producer, composer, percussionist, and writer, has been playing music professionally for over 30 years, including work on over 120 albums and film soundtracks worldwide. His work can be heard on albums by R.E.M., Mad Season, Screaming Trees, Queens Of The Stone Age, Tuatara, blues legend Cedell Davis, and recording sessions that range from the Peruvian Amazon to Brazil, Cuba, the Palestinian West Bank, the Mississippi Delta, and the Alaskan Arctic. Barrett also holds a master’s degree in ethnomusicology and linguistics and has studied and practiced Zen for over 25 years.
He has guest lectured at several universities across the United States and has written essays for The Huffington Post and Riot Material Magazine. In 2014 he was awarded the ASCAP Deems Taylor/Virgil Thompson Award for excellence in writing, and in 2017 he received two Latin Grammy nominations, winning one for producing Nando Reis’ Best Brazilian Rock Or Alternative Album, “Jardim-Pomar”.
Barrett’s first book, “The Singing Earth,” was released in 2017, and his second book, “The Way Of The Zen Cowboy,” was released in 2019. His third book, “Stillpoint,” was released on October 8th, 2021. His solo band, The Barrett Martin Group, has released 10 studio albums to date.

JTNPA and park staff recognize that amplified sound can impact wildlife and other visitors. Based on acoustic monitoring of the first JTNPA concert at Indian Cove, amplified music did not exceed the 60 dB threshold (maximum allowed in a park setting) at monitoring locations adjacent to and as far as 200 meters away. However, the concert could be heard up to a mile away from the amphitheater and the park continues to monitor noise levels while we explore the future of park concerts.
