    Sydney 1998 I'm sure they had been at the beach before the show, perfect song to play as the opener

    This would have been the PERFECT opener at Sea Hear Now as the stage was literally right next to the Atlantic Ocean.  Instead we got DOTC.  lol

    I was surprised to see that out of all the shows I’ve been to that I only got Oceans 4x.
    The same 3 eeriepadave was at and then all the way back to 1998 in E.Rutherford NJ.

    Right before they went on stage, I told my buddy I was with I was 100% sure they would open with either oceans or long road. I was 100% wrong.

    My white whale is to hear the rumored Mama son trilogy live, Alive, Once, Footsteps, I"ve heard each one live peppered throughout the setlists over the years, they played all 3 in a row in 2006 at the United Center, but they played it backwards

    I think that’s how the trilogy is usually played “nowadays.” In terms of setlist flow, I guess it works best to start with Footsteps and end with Alive. It’s a nice way to start a second encore.

    Pensacola Fest or whatever it was called.  They opened with it right on the gulf coast.  Was amazing.  A great set and rather long one for a festival.

    It was the first song I ever saw them play live as they opened with it at the first Wembley show in 1996.

    70 shows, 7 performances of "Oceans." That's more "Oceans" than there are oceans on the planet, even if you consider the Southern Ocean as a separate ocean.

    Be aware that it pulls from the database on this website, which has quite a few errors, so you should do your own research where you can. (For example, they still haven't corrected the 4/11/94 Boston show. where it says that "Hold On" was played, when it was actually an improv with the repeated lyric "hold on," even though this error was pointed out years ago.)

    Fortunately for myself, I kept track of this independently since my first show in 1994, so I have a spreadsheet that I know is accurate.

    It is amazing how well Ed can still perform it / moved down a register as appropriate . I always feel like the timing of the opening verse is always tricky between Ed and the rest of the band.

    I saw them open up with Oceans at Deluna fest in 2012 while they performed on the beach on the white sand of the Gulf of Mexico in Pensacola Florida. What an epic show!!!
