I tried 24 and couldn't get into it but maybe I didn't pay enough attention.
I tried as well, got half way thru 1st season and didn't watch anymore. I didn't think it was anything special. Like you mentioned HFD, I heard it was such an amazing series and that's why I gave it a go, i wasnt really impressed by it

I finally gave it my all last year, and actually nearly finished the series... and yeah, it was okay but not great. There wasn't anywhere near enough unpredictability in it. It was the same thing over and over again, with a little spin on the specific circumstances. And really, the level of incompetence/ease at which that government agency was constantly breached and always had moles... it should have been dismantled after the first season, haha.

my wife and I watched a few episodes later when I was trying to get my daughter to not watch the same thing over and over again, and you guys are right; in 2004, we thought it was edge of your seat amazingness. But now, it seems a little dated and absurd. I mean, we knew at the time the absurdity of how many people working for counter terrorism ENDED UP WORKING WITH THE TERRORISTS, but because it was so good, we let that slide a bit.

I'd say season 1 and 2 are amazing. The final seasons were kind of duds. the reboot was awful.

That might have been part of my issue with it....I waited too long to start watching it. I had already seen all the SNL skits making fun of it, etc., and it just didn't hit me as all that believable.

Good to know - watching ep. 3 tonight, when I get there I'll see if I agree. Overall, seems like the season is getting a mixed bag of reviews. I can see how this is the kind of show that could run out of steam (ie Brooker is trying to add in more comedy, which I think would be fine in small amounts).

Reporting back - ep. 3 was OK. Seemed like a waste of a great cast. Bummer, but I'm kinda underwhelmed so far with this season, which I guess was going to be expected at some point here. So far I'd rank (from 1-3) that Loch Henry was the best, then ep. 3, then ep. 1. Hopefully 4 and/or 5 stick out.

It really us- loving it. Joshua Jackson is an underrated actor (he was even good on Dawson's Creek, lol).

Muscles and Mayhem: An Unauthorized Story of American Gladiators is a fucking awesome limited series documentary - just pure entertainment IMO, although it's probably at its best when you watch it a bit drunk. 😂 I actually didn't even know what the show really was until watching this - I didn't realize it was regulars vs public entrants. I was fully aware of it at the time, but thought it was so stupid, and never really watched it.... I still think it is so stupid, but interesting to see it from the perspective ofnthe Gladiators.

I didn't even remember him being on Dawson's....crazy

I thought he was great in The Affair...if you haven't seen that on Showtime it's very good.
