Musicians and music lovers are gathering on stages, street corners, and schools for a global day of action to bring music into the lives of children and to promote positive social change everywhere.

Playing For Change Day is a creative day of action that uses the universal power of music to create positive social change. Musicians from all over the world perform on stages, street corners, schools, yoga studios, and cafes to bring music into the lives of young people.
In response to the enthusiasm of those inspired by 'Songs Around the World' and the mission of the Playing For Change Foundation, PFC Day was born so that everyone could get involved and become a part of our global community.
In 2011, PFC Day had 225 amazing events in 41 countries on six continents sharing the love! We raised over $68,000 which is now supporting our programs in Nepal for one year; it also helps fund our teachers in three schools in Africa which serve more than 400 kids every week, as well as provides some of the costs to run these schools.

I love this organization! They had a mini-series on PBS a few years back, and I was sent their CD/DVD for my donation.
It's become one of my favorites in its beauty and purity and intent...the kind of music that moved (still moves) me to tears - the good kind, the best kind.
PS...Grandpa Elliott rocks my sweet socks off.
