I'm sure they do have a time limit and I understand that they will have other long shows......However, I look at them like they are a collective "Superman". In the perfect world, it would be great if they could do a 40 song setlist. I have, as many others, become addicts to Pearl Jam. We need more, more, more. It's difficult to accept a shorter set at a festival. My mind understands it, but my addiction doesn't care. This is even worse at the Bridge benefit concert (45 minute set, but at least it's accoustic). With all this said, whether it's 45, 90, or 180 minutes long, it's still a kick ass time!

Dude, were you there? Why do you care so much about a setlist for a show you (presumably from your San Fran location) didn't even attend?

Some people are never satisfied unless the band plays some outrageous set of nothing but rarities and the songs THEY deem okay to be played often. Blow it out your asses! This set list was fine. Hey Green Disease! I don't recall that one played often. They opened with Porch! When was the last time they did that? Seems like a good solid albeit short setlist. I'd be happy if I saw this show at a festival.

I know. Some people just need to come off elitest and spoiled, it seems. I have rare songs I'd love to hear, too. But I'm not act disppointed everytime they don't play a set full of rarities. So what? They are out there playing their asses off and they're damn good at it....where's the flaw in this situation?

Do the albums No Code through Pearl Jam really count as rarities?

Thanks for the uploads! The setlist looks great, and this is just 90 minutes... I would've loved to hear Daughter/WMA/ABITW2! And Last Exit as encore opener... Sweet!!

The funny thing is that you're asking me these questions, while other people complain about it many more times than I ever do. If you want to know how much I care about setlist, look back at the Lisbon thread where I believe I said that it only accounts for about 1/3 of a concert "rating" with the musical performance (most important), concert events (like a cake toss [see Hawaii 12/2/06]) and crowd (least important) being the other variables that go into determining the quality of a show. I have also given an example where a new and now a rare song was played and it messed up the concert flow because PJ kept screwing it up (example is Leaving Here during the second leg of the 1995 tour).

No, I was not there (I was enjoying a rare sunny day in SF). I do care about how they perform (which like I say above is in a small part related to the setlist) for a couple of reasons: 1) I want people who do attend to have a great time, 2) It is always a great bonus if they premiere a new or rare song (as long as it's not screwed up), and 3) I will eventually download (or buy) the concert audio/video, which is not the same as being there, but it's the next best thing.

Conclussion: Why me? Why such negative questions thrown back at my face? I am generally a nice guy who enjoys every single PJ song and concert.
We can always meet at the Bridge concert and have a good time at the Peace Pole.

I downloaded this one, from megaupload. It's only one track, which I forgot to check for when downloading. The sound quality is surprisingly really good. The band sounds pretty tight.

I never used the term rarities to describe Green Disease. I just said they haven't played it much in a while. Do setlists really need rarities to count as good?

Well, I was in Lisbon on friday and yesterday in Madrid (my hometown). I must admit that I liked more the Lisbon concert. The setlist was OK; no surprises but I always like to listen to the hits. In Madrid the show was shorter and I missed: Rearviewmirror, Evolution and specially... Better Man. Last year in Madrid they started with it and it was crazy, and this year...no Better Man... pity.
I was a bit surprised about the enthusiastic reaction of the portuguese people after the famous 'f*ck Madrid'. Anyway, I believe you when you say: 'No problem, no offense'. Well, I told you what happened yesterday in Madrid. When Eddie began to talk and say: 'We're very happy to be in Madrid, blablabla..., but the best thing is... TO BE OUT OF PORTUGAL!!! and the reaction of the public was... complete silence... like thinking: What is this guy saying??!! It seems like someone has tried to convince Eddie to exploit the supposed spanish-portuguese rivalry and, as far as we are concerned (the spaniards), this rivalry doesn't exist. In fact, IMHO, it is affection the actual feeling (at least from the spanish side). So, I think that the joke of being glad for being out of Portugal wasn't specially... brilliant.
I think that the connection with the public was better in Lisbon. In fact, I think that the ammount of wine drank by Eddie had somehing to do with it. He was very funny... The concert was less serious that other times...
The sound, in both concerts, was not spectacular, but OK.

    Saludos.

No, they do not. The set was good, (except ending with Alive), that was not the problem. More a look of fatigue on them, lack-lustre...seemed a times (several) to be just going through the ropes which I ceratianly DO NOT expect from these boys.

Also, as far as Green Disease goes, I think it´s a crap song so I prefer not to have it included, but that´s just my personal preference.

And this thing about "better out of Portugal" was just a laugh; silence from the crowd? Of course there was, most (by several thousand) indeed did not know about the "Fuck Madrid" thing in Lisbon the previous night; sorry to burst your bubble, Jammers, but the proportion of people at the gig who read these forums etc was MINUTE!!! (4 cats, as we say in Spain)

I have been reading the Spanish forums and overall there is dissapointment in the air. Crowd poor? I think a reflexion on the bands poor perfomance.
